New Website

HelioHost

Recommended Posts

Heliohost is proud to announce that we have a new website. Check it out at

https://heliohost.org/

We've been using our old homepage for well over 7 or 8 years with very few changes, and it has obviously become very outdated. Believe it or not, but there are files on our old site dating back to 2005. With that in mind the Heliohost administrators have collaborated to create a brand new site from the ground up. This isn't just another reskin of our trusty Joomla site that we've been using for so long, but rather this is a completely new homepage. During this transition between websites we will keep both sites active while we make sure the new code is fully functional. If you go to heliohost.org you will have a 50% chance of loading either the old homepage or the new. If you need to access the old site specifically you can do so by clicking the "Classic Site" link in the footer. If you find any bugs, or if you have any comments about the new website we'd love to hear about it. You can let us know what you're thinking by posting on our support forums http://helionet.org/ A big thanks goes out to all our donors, users, and volunteer staff who keep Heliohost going and makes all these improvements possible. Thanks for being a member of the Heliohost community.

Looks nice! Here are some bugs and suggestions.

Suggestions:

- It would be better if Get started button can lead to terms and conditions with form for registration on bottom. If there are no visible terms and conditions, people could abuse the service.

- You should replace pictures of scripting languages and services & features with transparent ones and align text little to right.

- If community map could be on homepage (not separate page) that would be great. Also if it is possible you should change it to Google Maps or something because this one is very laggy and freezes often.

- Use floating sidebars for ads. In my opinion, it looks a little bit messy now.

- Arrows on testemonials so people can look more of these.

- Make status page like Ookla or something like that.

Bugs:

- Page with community map freezes often.

- On some pages, HelioHost | Free Hosting (in left top corner) leads to https://www.heliohost.org/index2.php which shows an error.

- Missing scripts for account management.

- Elements on page shown as list when page is not completly loaded.

Enjoy! ;)

The new website is hard to find the plans for each server. I carn't find any information on stevie, johnny or eddy.

Once you enter e-mail to sign up, you will recieve link for e-mail address validation. When you validate e-mail address, you'll need to choose functions of server which you would like to use and click on Compare button. Where you will see list of servers and functions that they (do not) have.

Hi, I just joined, there seem to be some sort of issues with the sign up process.

I screenshot the following for your information.

1. I got email from helionet.org

2. I click on the blue link, "Click Here To Validate Your Email Address"

3. heliohost.org directed me to https://www.heliohost.org/signup/features/

- Production Server (99.9% uptime)

- Testing Server (Experimental)

- PHP (.php)

4. System then directed me to https://www.heliohost.org/signup/server/

- Stevie, Johhy Tommy

5. https://www.heliohost.org/signup/username/

- Pick Username

- zengvee

6. https://www.heliohost.org/signup/domain/

- Choose Domain

- zengvee.heliohost.org

7. After you clicked [ Next ] from previous Choose Domain form, you will be directed to https://www.heliohost.org/signup/ssl/ which seems to be broken here.

8. I joined this forum to report this, please let me know how to proceed if possible, thank you very much for hosting free website to humanity.

I successfully created an account under classic method, thank you.

I just aware of something, maybe the page failed because my firewall doesn't ALLOW OUT --dport 2082 and 2083.

I just noticed that after I couldn't open up heliohost cpanel.

I could access https://stevie.heliohost.org:2083/ after making adjustment to my firewall. For those who couldn't access, you might want to double check your OS firewall setting.

2096 for Webmail access https://stevie.heliohost.org:2096/ too!

But you carnt do that if your an existing user. Yeh they doint want you having Mutiple accounts but what happends if a user wants to find the specs of a server to switch. Like eddy is newer then stevie and more powerful. When it launches most users will want to switch to it.

^^ eddy = tommy.

Do we have to delete our account then recreate it on eddy?

I am not sure if I understood what you mean, paladox2014, I am new user and just heard about helionet from here, http://www.free-webhosts.com/webhosting-01.php

They got the highest rating which directly means the best choice for free web hosting.

I saw the list http://www.heliohost.org/classic/signup (eddy is not on the list)

Basically they just differs on Ruby, Rails, Java, Jsp and ASP.net support.

Anyways, heliohost new website is awesome move.

You are using older version of Opera Mini. Try updating it to the latest version.

You can't create account on Tommy because they are still testing it. To get account on Tommy you need to donate and ask HelioHost admins to create account for you.

- Page with community map freezes often.

I've found that on older computers with older browsers it can be pretty laggy. It's because your browser is trying to render several thousand pins all at once. It even works on my phone that has a faster processor.

- On some pages, HelioHost | Free Hosting (in left top corner) leads to https://www.heliohost.org/index2.php which shows an error.

Thanks, a variable wasn't updated between testing and going live. It should be fixed now.

It looks like you might have javascript disabled. Try it again with javascript enabled.

Unless you have permission to have multiple accounts, yes, you should delete your old account before moving.

@Krydos On AMD Quad-Core A8-6410 with 8 GB RAM still freezes. :D

Another tip, instead using PayPal.me for donations, use the old way of donations. PayPal.me is available in just few countries so people who are living in countries where is not available can't donate.

We'll look into reducing the number of pins.
