[Tutorial] Setting Up .tk Domain Alias To Your Hostname.heliohost.org

I gonna share the step by step method to link your new domain name eg. zengvee.tk to zengvee.heliohost.org

 

You probably want to use other domain or free domain, I will use .tk in my example.

 

[ STEP ONE ]

1. Go to http://www.dot.tk
3. Type in your preferred name eg. http://www.zengvee.tk in my case
5. Below are the top options after you press [ NEXT ]
7. [ ] Forward this domain to [ ] Use DNS [ ] Build a new website with
9. Choose the middle [ * ] Use DNS
11. Fill in like below
13. Server Name : ns1.heliohost.org IP Address : 65.19.143.3
14. Server Name : ns2.heliohost.org IP Address : 64.62.211.133
16. Fill in Registration Length, 1 month to 12 months depend on how long you want to use this .tk domain ( You could renew for free after expiration )
18. Fill in Captcha code
20. Click on Sign up and use your email, basically the thing on dot.tk are done.

 

[ STEP TWO ]

You should perform the following steps in your heliohost.org cpanel

1. Log into your cpanel, depend on which server you are, mine is https://stevie.heliohost.org:2083
3. Under Domains, choose Alias
5. Under the Create a New Alias textbox, key in your .tk domain name, in my case, zengvee.tk
7. Click on the [ Add Domain ] button
9. Done

 

[ FAQ ]

 

How to get the Server Name and its IP Address in step 1.13?

1. Visit https://whois.icann.org , search your domain name, eg. zengvee.heliohost.org
3. Under Name Servers, you would see NS1.HELIOHOST.ORG and NS2.HELIOHOST.ORG
5. To get the IP Address of them, open up cmd.exe or terminal, type ping ns1.heliohost.org and then ping ns2.heliohost.org
7. PING ns1.heliohost.org (65.19.143.3) 56(84) bytes of data.

8. PING ns2.heliohost.org (64.62.211.133) 56(84) bytes of data.

 

If you visit http://www.zengvee.tk now, you would see my website which is still queuing at this moment.

Here is another update.

 

Redirect http://zengvee.heliohost.org to http://www.zengvee.tk

 

1. Log into your cpanel
3. Under Domains, choose Redirect
5. Type : Permanent
6. http://(www.)? : zengvee.heliohost.org
7. / : [ leave it blank ]
9. Redirects to : http://www.zengvee.tk
11. www. redirection : redirect with or without www.
13. Click on [ Add ] button

 

What happen here is, whenever visitors visit http://zengvee.heliohost.org , they would be directed to http://www.zengvee.tk , you could click on my link to test it.

This looks great! Just a few notes:

 

13 and 14, for nameservers, the IPs are not required. You can leave the IP boxes blank and it should work.

 

In step two, sub-step 3 for "under Domains click Alias"...when using x3 theme, Aliases are called "parked domains" instead.

That's what this tutorial explains...how to park a .tk domain. Alias is just the paper_lantern theme's name for a parked domain.

I understand. But normally I use functions for adding domain name parked domain. With heliohost.org I also found a very useful tool that is: use script to set the domain name for hosting. I think a lot of people do not know how to use this tool.
