  1. I currently love the EU.ORG domains. Registering them is horribly painstaking, but it is reliable, NOT blocked in Google and of course, free. Also, HelioHost deleted my hosting account (I can't log in anymore). Probably due to inactivity or forwarding traffic to my new website (with another hosting company (MY hosting company to be more precise)). This also means that I probably won't update this list anymore, so if you are looking for a good list, check GetFreeDomain.name for a nice list. And if you find anything missing in his list, use the contact form because the admin responds very well to good ideas.
  2. Religions tell people a cause for everything: God. These gods are explained using undeniable yet unrelatable and incomprehensible evidence. Just like... infinity. Suppose, infinite universes exist, which have been there for an infinite time and will be there for an infinite time. This would nullify the need for a creator, because everything was already there. But what about the Big Bang you say? Just one of the many ups and downs in the daily infinite of a universe. Although this is more or less a "turtles all the way down" philosophy, this sounds just as probable as any religion in my view.
  3. I didn't get the point of that bit of Latin. Anyway, I like the occasional slap to the face to make me see where I stand. Still, others may not share my opinion so if you don't belief what is being said here, then don't read it. Like byron said, no need to incinerate everyone.
  4. r.gd seems like a good one. Young, but good. And shorter than most other free domains. Anyway, a good way to find out whether a domain is blocked in Google is by searching "site:<domain extention>" (without quotes). If the domain isn't blocked, you will see random sites using that domain. If the domain is blocked, you will get no hits. I will have to check that for my list above. Cydots.com (of the **.tc domains) is a subcompany of Interdots.com. Interdots owns like a dozen of such companies, all offering free domains (e.g. EuropNIC, Smartdots, JoyNIC and others). Some of their domains have been blocked by Google, others have not (use the tip above to check individual domains). A problem I encountered with the Interdots system is that they do not support CNAME-records. Use one, and you will be dropped on their website when accessing it.
  5. I'm running a secondary Drupal site, but now I may change it to Acquia Drupal. Thanks for the message.
  6. Those CDATA tags were the error I fixed. But actually, I only saw that error when I viewed the feed in a browser, not in a RSS Reader. I restored the original line, and after some final tweaking my Blog Feed is finally ready. Sweet. And thanks again!
  7. Good point, I split them into a seperate category. I also had some email correspondence with the guy behind getfreedomain.name, and he told me that .cu.cc / .ce.ms and all other free domain providers using the same software as .cz.cc are blocked from Google. Then I dug deeper and found out that I couldn't find any .net.tc or .tr.vu domains on Google. They are probably blocked too. That leaves only .tk as not blocked. Interesting.
  8. Thank you, the RSS feed works (unbelievable that it's often so simple). But now I have another problem. My description looks like this: This is an integrated blog system I'm trying to replace the News section, because the News section doesn't limit the amount of displayed items which would result in a horrible amount of items over time. I changed one of the lines to fix one error, so now it looks like this $data.=" <description>".stripslashes(htmlspecialchars($text))."</description>\n"; Can somebody help me to display the apostrophes properly?
  9. I found a huge list of free domains at http://getfreedomain.name/. I'll work through that list some time soon. Conclusion: there are way too many free domain providers.
  10. You're not the only one with the problem. At Heliohost, you sometimes just get an error 500 when accessing your site. This happens often if you access cPanel and/or FTP and your website at the same time. You use up too much server power, so you're site pops out. Close cPanel and the FTP connection and wait for a while. It will soon be back up. When I just accessed your site, it was up, so don't worry.
  11. Having free hosting is great, but you also need a domain in order to get your website online. You could of course use a free subdomain from your webhost, but that generally limits your options and means you cannot transfer your website elsewhere without having to change your URL as well. That's the problem a free domain solves. This list is composed of providers who offer free domains at no charge and give you full DNS control as well as the ability to use your own nameservers (or the nameservers of HelioHost). Free domain providers: FreeNOM - The company previously responsible for .tk is now also poviding free .cf, .ga and .ml domains. This is the only provider who offers free top level domains. But be warned, .eu.org - Free subdomain with rather complicated registration procedure. But this provider has been around since 1996 and most likely will be around for a long time. nom.za - This is a special provider. The good news: nom.za domains are not free subdomains, they are valid third level domains just like .co.uk domains. The bad news: there are a lot of strings attached to managing a .nom.za domain, which you can find on their website (and are too extensive to be covered here). FreeDNS: FreeDNS is a service where people can submit their domains so other people can get subdomains from it. This community oriented nature means there are over 100,000 domains in there pool and many of them can be used to get free subdomains. Source: This list has been made possible using the list from http://getfreedomain.name/ Dead links (that may come back): Free Available Domains - A clean, no nonsense provider with free subdomains of usa.cc, sxx.in, flu.cc, nut.cc, ibiz.cc, igg.biz and tld.cc. .cu.cc - A popular free subdomain provider. They have been doing quite well in the last few years and have a neat referral program to earn some extra money. Interdots: Interdots is a company with many different "registrars" under them. Each registrar is responsible for a number of domains they provide subdomains for, with each registrar being responsible for a different top level domain. Except for their names and domains they offer, all registrars are almost the same so if you've tried one, you've tried them all. nic.de.vu - providing free subomdains of various .vu, .tc and .ms domains PopNIC - providing free subdomains with the .pn TLD NeuNIC - providing free subdomains with the .vc TLD HomeNIC - providing free subdomains with the .hm TLD UNONIC - providing free subdomains with the .tf TLD MediaDots - providing free subdomains with the .mn TLD LavaNIC - providing free subdomains with the .lv TLD
  12. You use a yourdomain.*.tc domain. That's another free domain provider. I understand you want to fight for the rights of free domain "owners", but it doesn't seem like you use .co.cc yourself.
  13. I assume all premade software (Joomla, IP Boards, cPanel) is build decent enough that they store their passwords as hashes, so don't worry.
  14. Will you release an Android app as well? And if so, when can we expect it? I would greatly benefit from it.
  15. Ok, I pretty much conclude that at the beginning of time, there was something which dictated the laws of nature and set the big bang in motion. Something both brief and infinite, something incomprehensible by the human mind. But is this the creator? Saying that means there would only be one thing (or being, actually) that caused everything. But I can't conclude that. Something as powerful as "The Cause" cannot be understood. People called it "God", hoping it would bring them understanding. But it doesn't accommodate the entire concept. I did my homework and looked up the exact definition of Allah (which was Hassan's creator all along), and Allah is said to be an infinite and incomprehensible factor. The thing with Allah is: he judges. This means he is sentient, and therefore humanlike, meaning Allah is quantifiable. So again, Allah cannot be "The Cause".
  16. At the top of HelioNet, above the Intentional Grammar Warning, there is a Google AdSense ad. Also, below the cPanel logo, there is a Google AdSense ad. Maybe you have AdBlock on? No, my tests confirm my adblocker doesn't affect it. The website is just bad.
  17. You found some thing new ,nice one. Actually, I told him about it. Anyway, .free isn't available yet, you can only preregister one domain and you'll be able to use it summer 2013 (scheduled season), unless someone else wants the domain too. Then it will be sold to the highest bidder (so you need to pay). Don't add it to the poll.
  18. Thank you, Piotr, for your support. I'm not planning to use more proxies, and I have enough trust in Cloudflare to send me a proper forwarded IP that the current setup will work for now. If I have any more problems, I will ask a friend (an excellent PHP programmer) for help. Thank you again.
  19. Ok. The code Piotr gave me showed this: REMOTE_ADDR: 173.245.53.xxx HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR: 82.73.10.xx HTTP_VIA: The REMOTE_ADDR is indeed Cloudflare's IP and the FORWARDED thingy is mine (the xx are for censoring). I've edited maincore.php as Piotr suggested and my site doesn't show any errors, so I assume it's working fine. However, I'll only know the effect when a new user registers, because the (wrong) IPs of existing users are still in the database. Ok. 20. Ehm, I don't see any ads on Helionet or cPanel. I don't mind that I don't see ads, but maybe the code should be reviewed. My opinion: Put another vertical ad on HelioHost in the right sidebar (it's just blank now). I don't like ads between the forum posts, I find them very annoying. Also, a post2host system would be bad. I doubt it will make a forum more lively, it will just flood it with spam. And such a system would be a kind of going against the whole idea of Heliohost (for as far as I can see (Professional webhosting with a twist? I haven't seen any professional hosting with a post2host system)). Currently, the only drawback of Heliohost is the downtime.
  21. I don't want to use net2ftp to upload/download to/from HelioHost's servers, I want to install net2ftp on my website so my visitors can use it to access third-party FTP servers. Will such a script put a lot of pressure on the server (in terms of bandwidth, processor load, etc.)?
  22. I'm on Stevie, but I can't code PHP very well, so I won't be able to make such a thing all on my own. Thanks anyway.
  23. I'm using PHP-Fusion, which tries to logsthe IP of members, but currently only logs Cloudflare's IPs. I've looked through the files to find any way in which I could circumvent the logging issue, but I was unsuccesful. Oh, and I'd really appreciate it if this would be escalated, because it would benefit all Cloudflare users, which I hope is a growing number because of the great features of Cloudflare.
  24. One of the reasons people have their own mind, is to make their own moral decisions appropriate to the circumstances. I'm Dutch, and if you know all about the prejudices, you will be able to guess my viewpoint. Sexual relationships outside marriage: morally OK. Abortion: morally OK. Cohabitation outside marriage: morally OK. Obscene language: (depending on present company) morally OK. Gambling (if done small-scale): morally OK. Homosexuality: morally OK. Oh, and Hassan, I just read the Da Vinci Code, which provides an interesting view on Jezus, Maria Magdalena, the Church and Christianity. Lastly, kudos to Phil Fernandes for making a great point.
