  1. You can specify which documents respond to particular codes by adding them to a .htaccess file. Note that .htaccess files are generally inherited by child directories - so if you put it in your public_html directory (i.e. the top-level directory of your site), then all child directories should follow the rules too. So to add custom 404 (Not Found) pages, you'd use something like: ErrorDocument 404 /my-amazing-4oh4-page.php When I say ".htaccess files are generally inherited by child directories..." this has just generally been in my experience; thinking about it, I actually don't know if that is related to how a given HTTPD is configured, whether it's default Apache behavior, or what. But it will most definitely apply to the directory in which the .htaccess file is located.
  2. Ah such is life! A bit of downtime never killed anyone! Cheers, glad to be aboard =)
  3. I like long walks on beaches, sunsets, candle-lit dinners... Haha. I'm 24 and currently call Perth in Western Australia home. After finishing highschool I spent a few years working crappy jobs, had heaps of fun and partied about enough for two lifetimes, then decided to go to uni and get a real career happening. I'm about to start my second year of Engineering and Computer Science, which is challenging but also great fun. I've been into programming since I was about 14, starting with QBasic (does anyone else remember that?) and then Visual Basic, then moving on to C and PHP. Most of my coding now is done in PHP for practical purposes, and I've done quite a lot of freelance work for various people since I was about 17; but it's always been more of a hobby that on occasion provides modest cash than a serious job, and I work on a lot of personal projects (many of which never end up coming to fruition!). I go camping quite a bit, and have a big circle of friends who are into their boating, spearfishing, beaching and four-wheel-driving - and are well-equipped to do so - so I'm lucky enough to get in on the action pretty regularly. AAAAAANNNNDDD that's about it. So g'day HelioNet and all other members!
  4. Well as my first post, I should say hi to everyone present at HelioNet. So, "hi!" =) But immediately following that as a very close second, with sufficiently small distance to warrant being included in the same post... what's the catch? I get provided with web hosting with everything I could ever want for my part-time development and coding needs, AND a community of active users to bounce ideas off and discuss topics with and just generally participate in, AND it's all FREE? Haha I've scoured the terms and all the (minimal) fineprint I could find for some hidden outrageous requirement (pledging of first borns, x% of all income for the rest of my life, requirement to partake in bizarre cultish rituals...), and it really does seem as though it's exactly what it says; but I've been on the Earth a few spins, and my cynical nature tells me there simply must be some kind of hidden catch somewhere - who now has possession have my soul?! If it's really as good as it all sounds, then all I can say is a genuine, heartful thanks to those who provide it. It seems like a wonderful little setup.
