  1. You really did a great job djbob! Looks really good. Byron
  2. This may or may not be what they're looking for and even if it's not this is really a great site search tool. Put it in any directory and name it anything you want with a .pl or .cgi extension and chmod it to 755 and your ready to go. http://www.perlservices.net/en/programs/si...der/index.shtml Here is the script. http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/scripts/p...site_search.txt Byron
  3. All I meant by system access was that cron would still be able to execute the file even though on my old server the file couldn't be executed by me. This is a php file chmoded to 600 from my old server: http://byrondallas.p4h.biz/php/index.php It's a long story on my old server, even though it's still up and running, it's subject to go down for weeks at a time and there's no administrator or forum for that domain anymore and hasn't been for over a year and that's why I'm with heliohost now and really fortunate (btw) that I found such a really great host. Thanks, Byron
  4. Everyone as in anybody who clicks onto my page url. And yes I understand that no one can see the source code of server side scripting no matter what I chmod it as, but it was my understanding that a permissions of 600 would block world access to the page but allow system access such as a cron job. I know on my old server that a setting of 600 would deny me and everybody else to my php pages but that server ran php as an Apache module. And today when I tried chmodding a file to 600 I found it a little strange that I was able to execute it and thought maybe something was wrong. Nothing really. I just thought since my directory sweeper, (that is run by a cron job) didn't need world access and could have a permission of 600 and cron would still be able to execute it but would keep anybody else from executing it. It's really not that important, I was just concerned that maybe I had permission problems, but if you say that's the way it's supposed to work than that's all that matters. Thanks, Byron
  5. I'm perfectly OK with your decision and I really don't mind at all. Thanks, Byron
  6. So are you saying that everybody should be able to see my php pages when they are chmoded to 600? I take it that your able to see them, right? I'm using a cgi unix command tool. It's a web-based UNIX Shell Interface that uses non-interactive commands only. This is what the info says about it: and I have it password protected with .htaccess Byron
  7. Exactly what does that mean? You know I really didn't need to go through all of this with you, but since you seemed to think I was to incompitent to know how to chmod files or that I would come over here and post that I had permission problems without making sure my files were actually set to 600 and not something else and now you tell me you don't know anything about php and you don't even have a site to test on LOL. I think next time I'll just wait for djbob's reply. Thanks anyway Wizard, Byron
  8. There's no doubt that they are chmoded 600. All of these file are chmoded to 600: http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/temp/index.html http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/temp/index.php http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/temp/info.php If I do a Unix Command on my directory, this is what I get: -rw-r--r-- = 644 -rw------- = 600 ----------------------------------------- -rw-r--r-- 1 byron byron 36894 Jul 17 08:08 crowded-house.jpg -rw------- 1 byron byron 1635 May 9 17:44 index.html -rw------- 1 byron byron 1075 Sep 20 09:07 index.php -rw------- 1 byron byron 25 Sep 20 12:33 info.php You might want to try it on your site and see if the same thing happens? Byron
  9. But your seeing my php page, right? So that means I (or we) have a permissions problem with php I think.
  10. I'm not sure if I have a problem or not so maybe somebody can tell me. Shouldn't a chmod of 600 on this php page deny anybody from viewing it? http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/temp/index.php It denies me with an html page chmoded to 600: http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/temp/index.html Or is that the way php works on a server that runs php as cgi? Thanks, Byron
  11. OK these were the replies I got and my reply: Since it's turned out this way djbob, I really don't have a problem converting my PNGs to GIFs if you would rather not upgrade at this time. Byron
  12. I posted your message and this is what I have gotten so far this evening: I replied back to him that we have Version 0.3.0 and I wasn't sure if you built it yourself and I could use PNGs just fine without any errors. And I'm now waiting on his reply. Byron
  13. I'm still showing the same error: http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/ming/tmp/BYRON.php
  14. This was the reply I got after quoting your reply to J. Sorry about all this confusion djbob. I had know idea it was going to be like his when I requested Ming Hopes this helps, Byron
  15. Okay, this was the reply I recieved. Hopefully this will shed some light on the problem. Let me know if you have any questions?
  16. That's fine djbob. I was hoping that maybe what I posted would have given you an idea of what the problem was. Anyay I joined the Ming Mailing list forum and posted my error over there, what a strange way to post , so hopefully somebody can give us a quick answer. Byron
  17. OK djbob, this is all I've come up with so far concerning this particular error found on my page: http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/ming/tmp/BYRON.php This may or may not help you, but from what I can tell this is the part of Ming that outputs that error. http://www.oaxaca.gob.mx/mapserver48/ming-...blocks/bitmap.c Google Cached version http://209.85.141.104/search?q=cache:jSTtU...us&ie=UTF-8 Maybe you just need to uncomment one of the includes? But you'd no more about that than I would. Anyway hope this shed some light on the problem. Byron
  18. Okay I'll check around and see what I can come up with. But check this out. I took those same images that were in that script and converted them to PNG's and changed it inside the script and it works. http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/ming/tmp/BYRON_2.php Maybe that'll give you some clue as to what's going on?
  19. Oh OK, I was a little confused as to why that person who sent me the script was able to use gif files and I wasn't. They've had ming for a long time and probably have an older version of Ming than heliohost. They said their version was Version 0.3.0. But I'm not going to worry about any longer and I'll just keep checking my files to see if Ming updates in the future. Thanks djbob! Byron
  20. Evidently it's actually working and the error is just telling us that it "must be translated into DBL files for now" and maybe a future update will fix that? I never once thought to check the swf that the php script ouputs because I kept getting that error and just assumed that it would'nt be there but low and behold it is. http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/ming/tmp/Byron.swf I guess all is ok. Sorry about that djbob, but like I said I nothing about Ming. Thanks again djbob, Byron EDIT: Nevermind, it isn't working like I thought. I just went back and looked at the script and talked to that person again. That swf file was created on that persons server and included in the zip file. My scrpt should have outputed this file: $myMovie->save("Byron2.swf"); which it didn't because of the error. So now I think it's your call. If it's against your better judgment than that's perfectly ok with me cause I really appreciate what I have now. Whatever you decide I'll be ok with.
  21. This is what that example file should look like. http://www.script-artist.com/ming/works/GNU/Byron.swf That person who made that for me sent me a zip that had the images and font and the ming script and that swf file that program produced. Maybe they have a different version of Ming. My knowledge of Ming is nadda. Let me see if I can find anything from them about maybe what the deal is. Byron
  22. I'm having a problem using gif files inside my swf scripts. This is the error I'm getting: http://byrondallas.heliohost.org/ming/tmp/BYRON.php Is this something that can be fixed? And if so, than there's no rush on it, just sometime in the near future. Thanks, Byron
  23. My main concern was just making sure you knew about it and had an explanation for it. But knowing me it'll happen again in the future and next time I'll save it for you to check out. Thanks djbob! Regards, Byron
  24. Explain what you mean by "PHP apps". I recently made a couple of tools that use Imagick. One creates an image and annotates on that image with a true type font and the other just allows a person to view an off premise true type font. I was working on those tools over the weekend and doing allot of editing. I also sent those to a few friends of mne to use. More than likely those files would have been the culprit?
