  1. Some new users may be alarmed by the seemingly full drives on Heliohost servers. Stevie only needs a couple hundred megabytes free in /dev/sda1 (/), /dev/sda2 (/var), /dev/sda3 (/usr), and /dev/sda9 (/var/cpanel). We actually have it set up this way on purpose to waste as little space as possible on the hard drives which allows us to host a larger number of user accounts. If /dev/sda6 (/tmp), /dev/sda7 (/home), /dev/sdb3 (/home1), /dev/sdb5 (/var/lib/pgsql), or /dev/sda8 (/var/lib/mysql) get close to full though we do have a problem, and it would be great if you could notify an admin as soon as possible. The fastest way to contact an admin is to log into IRC http://www.heliohost...me/support/chat Even if no one responds immediately we do monitor everything that is said in the channel, and of course you can always create a new post on our customer support forum http://www.helionet....o=new_post&f=45

    Stevie Phppgadmin

I am happy to announce that Stevie phpPgAdmin is working again. Please see this news post for further information.
  3. Regarding The Heliohost admins are pleased to announce that phpPgAdmin on Stevie is functional once again. However, when you initially click the phpPgAdmin link while logged into your Stevie account from your control panel you may see the following message This message is a false alarm, and is nothing to be concerned about. It is the result of a recent change of how phpPgAdmin connects to the PostgreSQL server. This message should go away on its own soon. Just click the "PostgreSQL" link on the left navigation pane, and you should be able to access your databases as usual. If you are still having any difficulties with PostgreSQL or phpPgAdmin or any other service issues please create a new post in Customer Service to let us know about it.
  4. Helionet.org / Heliohost.org are now back online. Thank you for your patience while we upgrade and attempt to improve the stability of our services. Keep in mind that support is always available during outages at our live chat http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=heliohost if you need immediate help with anything. Like all Heliohost services it is staffed by the community and unpaid volunteer admin so feel free to help others with their issues if you can, or wait patiently for an admin to respond to the notification that you have logged on.
  5. Due to unforeseen complications during a routine software upgrade on the Cody server some services were offline from approximately 11:00am PDT until 8:00pm PDT. None of the user accounts were affected in any way by this outage. However, new users were unable to create accounts, and existing users were unable to access to support forums. The Heliohost wiki was also offline during this period. Thanks to the hard work of the Heliohost admins the problem was quickly identified and the painstaking process of rebuilding key modified files was undertaken resulting in a full restoration of all core Heliohost services. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, our users.
  6. from http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/12615-some-stevie-accounts-offline/
  7. Regular service has already been restored. Thanks to all the Heliohost admins that worked on getting this issue resolved quickly.
  8. We are doing everything in our power to restore normal functionality to Stevie. Recently Hurricane Electric notified us of a malicious website hosted on our servers, and five hours ago that website was removed as requested. Forty-five minutes ago one of the main IP addresses on Stevie was null-routed due this website in question supposedly still being hosted on our servers. Obviously an error has been made, and the proper contacts have been made to restore normal functionality. There is nothing wrong with the Stevie server, and all data and websites hosted on Stevie still exist and will soon be back online. However, the internet route to access Stevie is currently blocked. We apologize for any inconvenience this unexpected lack of access may have caused you. Regular service is already restored, and the IP is no longer null-routed.
  9. Now imagick is available on both servers. Check this news post http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/12561-imagick-installed-on-johnny/ for details.
  10. Image Magick is now installed and available for use on both servers Stevie or Johnny. Stevie: imagick module version: 2.2.2 ImageMagick version: ImageMagick 6.6.1-5 Johnny: imagick module version: 3.0.1 ImageMagick version: ImageMagick 6.7.1-7 Stevie imagick/imagemagick will be upgraded to 3.01/6.7 after the next scheduled cPanel upgrade.
  11. Less than a week remains to vote for the winner of the Heliohost Website Competition. If you haven't voted yet head on over to http://www.heliohost.org/home/signup/contest and cast your vote now. If your site is one of the contestants you could even advertise that all of your visitors go and vote for you too. The more votes the better as far as we're concerned. Voting closes at the end of May 31st, and the winner will be announced shortly after that.

    Solar Eclipse

He·li·os    [hee-lee-os] noun the ancient Greek god of the sun, represented as driving a chariot across the heavens; identified by the Romans with Sol. helio- prefix Sun: heliocentric. [Greek hlio-, from hlios, sun; see swel- in Indo-European roots.] An annular solar eclipse will take place on May 20, 2012 (May 21, 2012 for local time in Eastern Hemisphere), with a magnitude of 0.9439. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partially obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is smaller than the Sun, causing the Sun to look like an annulus (ring), blocking most of the Sun's light. An annular eclipse appears as a partial eclipse over a region thousands of kilometres wide.. This is also known as a Ring of Fire. http://en.wikipedia....of_May_20,_2012 If you happen to be in southeast Asia, the Pacific Ocean, or western North America be sure to get outside today to see the solar eclipse. We here at HelioHost are all about the Sun. Just be sure not to damage your eyes. http://eclipse.gsfc....elp/safety.html
  13. Pdo_pgsql http://php.net/manual/en/ref.pdo-pgsql.php has been installed on Johnny and is available for all those who need it.
  14. Johnny resumed normal functionality shortly after this news post was written.
  15. At approximately 6:30am PST an unplanned downtime began for some of the core Heliohost services. No user accounts or hosted websites were affected by this downtime. During the outage our support forums were unavailable, new accounts couldn't be created, and our wiki was offline. We appologize for any inconvenience this downtime may have caused you. Everything is fully functional now.
  16. Some accounts on Stevie today, May 16th, were inaccessible due to one of the major shared IP addresses being improperly routed within our data center. Nothing was wrong with our servers, and nothing was wrong with your accounts. The shared IP address just wasn't sending requests to where they were supposed to go, and therefore stevie couldn't respond to requests that it never received. Thanks to the tireless efforts of our admin support team this issue has been quickly diagnosed and resolved, and all services should be back to normal now. Thank you for your patience during this issue that was unfortunately beyond our direct control. Be assured that further steps are already in progress to attempt to prevent anything like this from happening again.
