  1. FYI CharityVest now delivers funds via PayPal instead of the mail, assuming the charity is registered with PayPal. More details at https://www.charityvest.org/blog/charityvest-implements-paypal-grant-payments-to-enable-electronic-payments-to-charities
  2. Thank you! I had actually already started migrating my nameservers to those controlled by my domain registrar, so I guess I'm controlling my own DNS for now. I've gotten my .htaccess file set up again (had to remove "Options -Indexes") and updated it so URL forwarding all does what I expect (I think lol). Also I do not see an IPV6 / AAAA server IP in my Plesk page, but I found and used 2001:470:1:1ee::2009 from https://www.helionet.org/index/topic/54610-solved-change-domain-name/ Directory listing is not disabled as expected by default by Plesk, but Krydos is already aware of it and gives a temporary workaround in https://www.helionet.org/index/topic/54409-solved-issues-andor-questions-after-migration-to-plesk/
  3. Do Heliohost admins have a preference? My aliased domain is still showing the old wrong DNS, too, after my migration to Plesk a week ago. I don't mind setting up Cloudflare and doing the migration myself per your message above. But I've found no official documentation about using an external DNS, which suggests to me that the official preference is for users to use Heliohost's nameservers. https://wiki.helionet.org/hosting/signing-up#i-have-chosen-to-use-a-domain-other-than-.heliohost.org https://wiki.helionet.org/management/parked-addon-and-sub-domains#how-can-i-create-an-addon-domain
  4. It appears you can now register as a charity at GoFundMe to accept donations year-round https://www.gofundme.com/c/charity-fundraising I'll still do my donations via PayPal to avoid the fees, but more services almost certainly means more donors who couldn't otherwise be bothered to make an account on yet another site.
  5. You can donate with zero fees with PayPal and Facebook. I just tested a $1 minimum donation on PayPal and $5 minimum on Facebook, and it appears they even covered the credit card processing fees. GoFundMe has large fees from what I see. On a $5 donation, 2.2% + $0.30 = $0.41, which is over 8% of the donation going to fees. https://www.gofundme.com/c/pricing Visit Heliohost's PayPal Giving Fund page at https://www.paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/2598664. From the Facebook mobile app, there is also a fee-free donate button on Heliohost's page. I don't see it on the browser website for whatever reason. Maybe Meta Pay is only an app feature and not on web https://www.facebook.com/HelioHost.org? It may also be limited to certain countries, idk. Also when I was making the donation, a footnote said there are no fees "for now", implying Factbook will start charging fees at some point.
  6. PayPal Giving Fund page looks active at https://www.paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/2598664. Minimum donation is $1. Facebook is also showing me a fee-free donate button from the Heliohost Facebook page on mobile app. I don't see it on the browser website for whatever reason. Maybe Meta Pay is only an app feature and not on web https://www.facebook.com/HelioHost.org. Minimum donation is $5. Charityvest is another option I found for fee-free donations, although only US citizens can use it and there is a $20 minimum. I am considering making a donation from Charityvest. Looks like they'd send you a check in the mail https://guide.charityvest.org/for-charities/overview, to 110 7 Th Ave S, Kirkland, WA 98033 per your IRS records (and may support ACH direct deposit in the future). Their giving page is https://charityvest.org/charity/helio-networks-d5b1f0df-8759-41c4-91b3-e9e75099579d
  7. Looks like this change is active. However, do you need to update your regular Donate button links to instead go to your PayPal Giving Fund page? https://www.paypal.com/us/cshelp/article/what-is-the-difference-between-paypal-donations-and-paypal-giving-fund-donations-help222 says "[For] donation buttons,... the money] is subject to PayPal’s processing fees. Charities enrolled in PayPal Giving Fund can direct donors to their PayPal Giving Fund donation page or pages... PayPal Giving Fund doesn’t charge charities or donors any fees." The forum donate button goes to https://paypal.me/heliohost which looks like it's subject to fees. The main website donate button goes to https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=33M9CSPP5YPXS, which looks like some sort of campaign associated with the giving fund so may avoid fees? When I search from PayPal's website directly, it's very clearly a Giving Fund page that would avoid fees https://www.paypal.com/fundraiser/charity/2598664
  8. Cool, that must have been it. I didn't use spaces, but did use backslash and forward slash characters (/ and \). After removing them, I'm now able to log in from the main heliohost.org page. Thanks for all the help!
  9. I still can't log in from https://www.heliohost.org, but https://tommy.heliohost.org:2083/ is fine for me to use instead.
  10. Domain: ukanuk.heliohost.org Username: ukanuk2 Server: Tommy (have been on Stevie and Ricky in the past) Hello, I am unable to log in or reset my password using the the main login in the top right of https://www.heliohost.org/. I requested a password reset, received the reset email and clicked the link to reset my password. But when I click "Submit" on the "Set New Password" webpage at https://www.heliohost.org/reset/password/, I get this message: Error Uh oh, there was an error changing your password. The admins have already been notified of the problem, but if you would like us to manually change your password for you please contact support. You could also try reseting your password again. Note there's a typo, it should be "resetting" not "reseting", but the important part is that I'm locked out. I suspect this is caused because I reset my password yesterday from within cpanel. I forget which link exactly I clicked to change the password, but afterwards I got an email from cpanel@ukanuk.heliohost.org saying my password had been changed, and this makes me think I changed some local software password without changing the main password in heliohost's system. Email from cpanel@ukanuk.heliohost.org: You have successfully updated your password for the following services: ftpmailMySQLpostgresqlsystemIf you initiated this change, disregard this email. If you did not initiate this change, contact your system administrator.

    Tommy Upgraded

Whoa, just received an email from Heliohost support that I was migrated back to Tommy (I had been temporarily on Ricky during the shutdown), and WOW the pages seem to load really fast!!! Thank you again for all the hard work and outstanding service!

    Backups Available

May an administrator please manually send me the backup from my Tommy account, which had username "ukanuk"? As sohamb03 noted on my migration to Ricky thread, the email was released from Tommy when I went to Ricky so that's why https://www.heliohost.org/backup doesn't work for me.
  13. I believe that's the only domain I have... if there's others, I've forgotten about them from years of non-use. My account's activated on Ricky now, thanks! Next is just waiting for the backup to be available, I'm checking at https://www.heliohost.org/backup/ with my old username and email but I know HelioHost said in one of the other forums it could take until September for everything to be available and back to normal. Thankfully I have a mostly-up-to-date backup on my personal local storage.
