  1. What's happened to my http://demo.heliohost.org/wordpress/ it's always "Error establishing a database connection"? Is the MySQL server still have a problem or it's now fixed and just some of us experiencing this? How can I fix this? Thanks..
  2. I performed a manual install of wordpress, and after hours of waiting, accessing the main domain from desktop redirects to the Account Queued page, but accessing this sample post, which is under the main domain, would load it. CPanel username: bdfguide Main Domain: blakedaganiel.tk Server: Stevie
  3. hello i have a problem. i installed wordpress on my site but i very see the "database problem" massage. please help my database is many times down. (my cpanel username is: "ali110") thank you very much.
  4. There seems to be an issue with Softaculous as Wordpress is not getting installed. It's giving the following error: The following errors were found : The MySQL Connection could not be established. The MySQL Connection could not be established. My website is www.startmutualfundinvestments.com and the username for my account is smfi Thanks for helping out
  5. Howdy! I tried to install Wordpress in my subdomain using softaculous yet I got this message. The following errors were found : The MySQL Connection could not be established. The MySQL Connection could not be established. I don't actually set major configuration in the Wordpress. Now, I wanted to know why I am getting the issues and what are the solutions of this problem? Further, I wanted to install Wordpress here: http://mabzicle.heliohost.org/ For utmost consideration and appropriate action. Thank you, Richard
  6. I'm having a problem with databases on Johnny that are used by a wordpress installation or three. I've made an account with the name jptsndbx to host a few small wordpress installations to play around with ideas for sites. Recently I've started upgrading them to wordpress 4.0, which involves an upgrade to the database. However, with two different wordpress installations now (each with their own databases), when I upgrade the site, I get an endless loop of "You must upgrade the database --&--#62; Thanks for upgrading the database, click here to continue --&--#62; You must upgrade the database" etc. After some research online, disabling plugins via ftp, etc, I found that the problem was buried in an sql table that listed a value that wordpress reads as the current database version. For some reason it wasn't updating. When I tried to change it myself, I get an "unspecified error." Anything I can be doing on my end to fix this?
  7. I get the following error while installing wordpress via "Site Software" option: The database (jpbalda_wp1) already exists! You do not have access to that database (jpbalda_wp1)! If I go to MySQL Databases there are no databases or users, but if I go to phpMyAdmin I see 2 databases that I'm unable to delete. Please help me with this problem. Thanks!
  8. Recently I've been running out of server space, and I realized it was because my WordPress folder was getting flooded with huge core dump files. From what I've read, it is not necessary WordPress causing these core dumps, it could be issues with the Apache server, php version, who knows what. I wanted to read the core dumps for information, but I'm having issues opening them in gdb. From what I've read, I need the binaries that generated the core dump along with the dump itself to open them. I'm not sure what binaries created it...or where to find them. For example, the php website suggests using something like gdb /usr/local/apache/sbin/httpd /path/to/core/dump I don't have access to the server files, so I don't know how to proceed. I've read suggestions that I ask my server host to stop generating core dumps, which would solve the space problem, but not the issue that's causing them. Any help on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated Thanks domain name: http://robbiewolfe.heliohost.org username: robev server name: stevie
  9. How to Install WordPress? Step-by-step Manual WordPress Installation Guide In this tutorial we will provide you with detailed instructions on how to install WordPress on your web hosting account. Follow these guidelines if you want to perform a new, manual installation of the latest WordPress version. Follow these steps to install WordPress manually: STEP 1Download the WordPress installation package To start the installation process, first you need to download WordPress from it's official web page . We recommend that you always download and install the latest stable version of WordPress. Once you click on the Download button for the latest WordPress version, the installation package will be saved to your hard disk. Locate the installation package that you've just downloaded and extract it to a new folder. STEP 2Upload the WordPress Files to Your Server Now, you need to upload the extracted files and folders to your web server. The easiest way to upload the installation files is via FTP. For detailed information on how to upload files via FTP, please check our FTP Tutorial. Important! If you want your WordPress to be the main installation on your account and to be accessible through your main domain (i.e. www.mydomain.com), you need to upload the extracted files to your public_html folder. Once the download is complete, extract the archive and upload it to your web hosting account. You can do that via FTP using a client application like Filezilla or via cPanel -> File Manager -> Upload file(s). If you want this WordPress installation to be main for your website, the files should reside in the public_html folder of your account. However, you can always make a subfolder (i.e. public_html/blog) if you want to run only part of your website on WordPress. STEP 3Create a MySQL Database for WordPress to use Now, you need to create a MySQL database and assign a user to it with full permissions. For detailed instructions on how to do that, please follow the steps described in our tutorial on <a href="http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/php-mysql/mysql_database_user.htm" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: rgb(66, 144, 197); text-decoration: none;">How to Create MySQL Username and Database. Once you create your MySQL Database and User, make sure you write down the database name, database username and password you've just created. You will need those for the installation process. STEP 4Go through the installation process Now it's time to navigate to your website to start with the installation process. If you have uploaded WordPress in your public_html directory you'll need to go to http://yourdomain.com in your preferred browser. The first thing you will notice is a message, telling you that you don't have a wp-config.php file and you should create one. Just click on the Create a Configuration File button to proceed. On this page you will see a message, asking you to prepare the necessary information for the installation. Since we already have this information, simply press the Go! button. Enter the details for your newly created MySQL database and press the Sumbit button WordPress will now check if your settings are correct. If you have entered all the necessary information, you will see a confirmation screen. Press the Run the Install button to proceed. On the next screen you will have to enter the information about your administrative username and the title of your new site. In addition, you can specify whether you'd want search engines to index your site or not. Once you fill in that information, press the Install WordPress button. Bear in mind, however, that you should specify a real email address. It can be later used in case you forget your password. That's it!Your new WordPress application is installed. You can use the Login In button to access your administrative backend and start posting in your new site. Credits: SiteGround.com : For the Complet Tutorial Step by Step.
  10. Hi, I'm having some troubles with my wordpress installation, I gonna do this short. http://screencast.com/t/nhn6Xw6A2tOy (when I try to upload an image) How I fix it? appears to be an error with the apache configuration, It never happen to me before, just in this hosting (which is a very good one), Thanks in advance.
  11. Please can to check because my wordpress blog shut down when i was changing theme in the Admin area now it shows a blank page ! http://earthmaps.heliohost.org/ Thanks Djalma Bina
  12. First I would like to say thank you for all of your time and effort for providing us with such a wonderful service. When trying to access my site I get this error: Unknown storage engine 'InnoDB' [1286] When I checked the engines tab in phpmyadmin it showed MyISAM MyISAM storage engine MRG_MYISAM Collection of identical MyISAM tables MEMORY Hash based, stored in memory, useful for temporary tables BLACKHOLE /dev/null storage engine (anything you write to it disappears) CSV CSV storage engine InnoDB Supports transactions, row-level locking, and foreign keys ARCHIVE Archive storage engine PERFORMANCE_SCHEMA Performance Schema FEDERATED Federated MySQL storage engine And when clicking on the InnoDB entry I am told: InnoDB Supports transactions, row-level locking, and foreign keys This MySQL server does not support the InnoDB storage engine. There is no detailed status information available for this storage engine. So it would seem that there is no InnoDB engine preent in the database. However , in order for me to recieve the initial error Unknown storage engine 'InnoDB' [1286] InnoDB would have had to have been present when the database was written, and now it is not. In order for me to resolve this error I must delete all log files and restart the mysql database. How would I be able to do that? Thanx again .
  13. Hi guys, I am making a website for my different kinds of art and I want to just make a simple, non-cluttered page where I can display a piece of content, usually just an image, without making individual html pages for each piece of content? Ideally, if I upload an image to a special folder, it would be automatically added to its own 'page' from which the user could navigate backwards or forwards. http://www.harkavagrant.com/index.php?id=121 This is an example of everything I want. I don't think I even want the mini blog section. I read some things about Joomla and installed it, which seemed bloated and I read you have to edit it to have the code for the page order to work correctly. Wordpress has way too much stuff on the top, sides, and bottom, and after a few hours of messing with it I can't see it working for what I want. Is there any software I can install that would allow for this? If not, how hard would it be for me to make something from scratch that fit these goals? I do have experience with programming but not in PHP, although I do have a friend who is rather good at it. Thanks
  14. Which CMS (Content Management System) is best for website designing and developing? Which CMS is best for e-commerce design and developing specially? My friend asked me to develop a website. He also want to edit the website like adding content, images, text, category, create login id, create password by own. I think some web developer make a Admin Section in the website and client can edit the website from there. How those web developer makes this thing happen? Is it possible in Drupal? Or is there any better way to make that type of website? In Drupal is it possible to make a website like helionet? Or is there any other better CMS?
  15. Having difficulty installing Wordpress, whenever I run the .php files I get a 500 Internal Server Error. Checked the error logs from cPanel and they're not reporting anything (except missing error page files! After adding files, no errors are reported). Have tried a number of methods: - Downloaded latest Wordpress software package, unpacked, copied to public_html, created database, ran the install.php, error 500 - Created wp-config.php file manually, uploaded it to the correct location, ran install.php, error 500 - Removed all files and wiped database, tried a Softaculous install, received email stating install was succesful, went to homepage, error 500 - Checked permissions of all files and folders, they are as they should be - Couldn't find .htaccess file, so added a blank one, added one from an old website, neither helped - Checked memory allocation for php - 20M, which should be OK Database seems to be working fine, everything on cPanel is working fine, no issues on server. Without having any idea what this error is or what's causing it, I'm finding it impossible to troubleshoot. Domain: detaildesign.me Username: donnnie Server: stevie OS: MacOS Lion 10.7.5
  16. Hi, I'm quite new at Heliohost, I created my account a few weeks ago. I created my first website, based on latest wordpress 3.4.2, without any additional plugins. I added just a few test themes, added some notes, and I didn't published the website's address nowhere yet. Yesterday (22nd of Nov, at 19:26 to be precise), my main index.php was deleted and replaced by index.html, containing some turkish video on YT, and words "Rea_pErz Was Here". Also the hacker added wordpress theme "This Is Rea_pErz's Shell", written in PHP (of course, I downloaded the files and deleted from the account immediately after). Now, I'm starting to reinstall wordpress and database, change passwords, check all my computers against trojans and viruses, etc. I found, that there was such case on heliohost before - see http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/12493-wordpress-blog-hacked-by-rea-perz/ I have several thoughts on that: - I know that website stats are disabled, but can I access some apache logs? Perhaps I could find out, how someone managed to hack my website? - My password was of medium strength, but it wasn't dictionary word. I guess, that hacker managed to enter the site by some SQL Injection rather, than by password guessing. - how can I protect myself against such attacks, apart from not using plugins in wp, having strong passwords and making backups? - I wonder, how the attacker got address of my website - it was parked domain, made from SeveralConcatenatedPolishWords.pl - there is very small chance someone just guessed the name. - I tried to use user_logs ftp account, to see if I can access some logs, but server dropped the connection with message "home directory not found". I also see, that /var on stevie is 99% full. - I know I have unpaid account, but can I make support request out of this? Such cases can influent more people than me - the hacks could be because of my misconfiguration, but also because of some features of heliohost. I'm not blaming anyone, just I am thinking what do do next.

  18. Hi, Does anyone have any good recommendations for creating a test enviroment for WordPress? Ideally, I would like to have my main domain example.com access my live site, and have a test.example.com access my test site. I would like the test site to be live. For example, if any of my users use test.example.com they can make post etc, and they will be displayed on the live site. However, I would like any changes. In terms of themes, plugins, widgets, etc on the test site to not effect the live site. After I've made changes to the test site that I'm happy with, I would like to be able to propergate thoses changes to the live site. If this is at all possible then this could be layerd. For example, I could have a test site that I would on. Then a beta site that I can use to get other people to test, and the finally my live site. Any ideas?
  19. I X-posted this same question on WordPress' own forums just a little while ago, but I wanted to ask here as well since I figured Helio would be more familiar with the workings of their own sites (and some of my previous issues). So I finally got my domain names set up, and now am ready to get things into gear regarding my website. I use the Multisite system of WordPress because in the future, I may be looking to add other blogs to my "network" as time goes on and I get more comfortable with blogging in general. However, now that I have a domain of my own I will need to change things with regards to how URLs in WordPress are displayed. I also am seeking to relocate the WordPress system itself to a subfolder of the root. Right now WordPress sits at a subdomain.heliohost.org URL, with the "static homepage" of my current blog at the root, and the "blog page" under subdomain.heliohost.org/myblog. Not only am I looking to change the URL (via the "Parked Domains" section of cPanel) to the top-level domains I had ordered, but want to have a physical move of the WordPress install to a subfolder on the server. So what I want is for the physical location of the Multisite database to be a subfolder like /wp or /wordpress, and for the individual blog(s) to have URLs like blog1.mysite.com and blog2.mysite.com or mysite.com/blog1 and mysite.com/blog2 (with content reading as blog1.mysite.com/this-is-an-article or mysite.com/blog1/this-is-an-article). I'm not even sure if this is possible; from what I understand of WordPress' own documentation (and other sites delivering howtos on this subject), it is, but is difficult (especially for "beginners"), and requires some extra steps depending on how comprehensive your Multisite network happens to be. As of right now, there is only one blog, but as I'd also mentioned, I plan to add others in the future, and Multisite allows for that without having separate WordPress installs on the same server. What I'm basically asking, once more, as I had with the question about DNS and domain configuration, is which to do first. Do I configure my Parked Domains in the cPanel interface first, and then make the physical move, or do the physical move first (moving WordPress from subdomain.heliohost.org to subdomain.heliohost.org/wordpress) and then configure Parked Domains, replacing content as necessary (mysite.com/wordpress) i.e. with the popular, recommended Search & Replace Script? Also, since I have two domains (a .com and a .net) that I'll be looking to have as the main domain for my site (both of which pointing to the same content), how would I go about ensuring that each of these goes to the same location when relocating/changing the Multisite install, so that mysite.com/blog1 displays the same as mysite.net/blog1 or blog1.mysite.com = blog1.mysite.net? Is it enough to just have subdomain.heliohost.org point via Parked Domains to my .com and .net, or is there something in WordPress that I will need to configure too?

  21. I have been playing around with an offline (localhost) install of WordPress, using a program called BitNami WordPress (Multisite) Stack. One of the reasons I was trying out BitNami was to use the WordPress Multisite option, which enables you to have several WordPress sites/blogs using just one install of WordPress (rather than installing WP in several areas of the site, i.e. home/wp1, home/wp2 or home/wordpress/wp1, to simplify things a bit and save a little server space). Apparently, BitNami installers are supposed to streamline this process (at least in terms of navigating the WordPress system itself), but as I am having a bit of trouble figuring out how to upload my offline site to my HelioHost account (their Wiki article, about migrating your local BitNami WordPress to the cloud, states that "the steps are very similar for any cloud or hosting provider," but don't go into much detail -- if any -- about using anything other than their proprietary for-fee service). I'm wondering if a regular install of WordPress (i.e. from scratch, and just using the same settings -- themes, plugins, content, etc. -- as I have on the offline site now), with the option to enable Multisite right off the bat, would be a better option in terms of "real-time" use, rather than fiddling with how to upload BitNami. I have explored the Softaculous interface a bit, and got to the point just before installing WordPress, where there is an checkbox to enable Multisite. As I'm not too sure if the Softaculous software offers the same options for every system without regard to "official" support or not, I want to make sure if it's supported/allowed on a HelioHost account to use WordPress Multisite, or if ticking the box would throw an error or (worse) give me a red flag on my account. (Some free hosting providers are limited in what features you are allowed to install. I just wasn't sure.) Is it OK to, when I get to the screen for installing WordPress, check off "Enable Multisite"? Also, if I do not have an "official" domain when installing the first time (and just put the WordPress install on my subdomain of heliohost.org), will I have to re-update things like paths and locations if/once I do (example.heliohost.org/wordpress vs. example.com/wordpress), or can I just use parked domains/redirects and everything will remain the same?
  22. The index.php page to my blog (hosted on heliohost) has been replaced and the site now opens defaced with text stating; It looks fairly innocuous, but I'd have to be an idiot to assume that they're only doing what they imply they are. Obviously there is no way I'm going to go emailing this...person..., but does anyone happen to recognise this attacker as falling into a particular attack type? In other words, how paranoid should I be about this kind of infestation? I did take the security advice for setting up the wordpress installation in the first place - strong passwords and user names, latest version of WP, minimal active plugins etc, but evidently wasn't quite careful enough. *sigh* I'll be scanning my computer, just in case, and (since I've got recent backups) probably doing a clean install of wordpress with new user-names, passwords and table prefixes, as I can't face searching through all the WP files for hacker-droppings (I can still get into my Heliohost account to delete/amend files directly, so I'm not stymied there). What does concern me, is that as it was a private site, I'd tried to keep it out of the search listings - in fact, searching for the full site address on Google still doesn't bring it up in the first three pages, so I thought I should probably post the issue in the forums, in case it's someone poking through the heliohost subdomains to see who's vulnerable. Apologies it this is the wrong area for this post - it's not really a customer support issue, nor exactly feedback, more a heads-up (and a small whine, as this really wasn't what I wanted to be doing on the last day of my Bank Holiday weekend :-(

  24. I've heard a lot about Wordpress being good and all, but how does it compare to running a website using just standard HTML? Does it really make it that much easier? My website is www.clubstep.co.uk and it's for my YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/ClubstepUK which is an electro house and dubstep promotional channel. What I'm wondering is whether I should design my site with Wordpress or not.
  25. I have tried to create a subdomain network with the documentation provided at http://codex.wordpre...reate_A_Network, however, it seems I am having trouble! Here's what I did: Create a wildcard domain in cPanel (ex: *.yoursite.heliohost.org) Use the instructions provided above to enable a subdomain network Create a new non-existent subdomain site under the WP network settings (ex: somerandomwebsite999.yoursite.heliohost.org) ...and you run into this: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/ on this server. Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/2.2.21 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.21 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 Phusion_Passenger/3.0.11 mod_mono/2.6.3 mod_jk/1.2.30 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_bwlimited/1.4 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_fcgid/2.3.6 mod_wsgi/3.3 Python/2.7.1 Server at somerandomwebsite999.yoursite.heliohost.org Port 80So.. what did i do wrong? Is it impossible to create a WP subdomain network? Please let me know in a reply. Thanks!
