[Answered] Running Php Scripts On My Website

Good Morning,

I have just registered for an account with Helionet, so far, everything looks really cool, and happy to have switched host's.

However, after having read your terms and conditions, FAQ, and other guides, I am looking for clarifications regarding what I can run on my account/website.

My previous host did not allow the usage of php scripts such as small Image Host's, Text pasting scripts, proxy scripts, ect. All these would be used mainly for personal usage, as small "utilitarian" tools for everyday usage on the internet.

If specific scripts are allowed, which ones specifically?

Additionally, do you have a certain age limit for hosting your website?

Yours Sincerly,

Clovis

Hello there,

Have you read this page?

http://www.heliohost...s/languages/php

As far as I know, all scripts are allowed, but you will need to check if the current PHP supports them (version, specific functions, etc)

Okay, just wanted to check before because some free host disallow certain or all types of script. Couldn't find anywhere that mentioned anything about the being not allowed, but nether could I find somewhere mentioning it was allowed. Better safe than sorry with a suspended account. Right? :)

Also, my second question still stand's:

Additionally, do you have a certain age limit for hosting your website?

Thanks,

Clovis

I don't think there's any, I've read lots of the pages in their webhosting, forum and wiki site but I haven't seen anything that says something about an age limit.

As lancersupraskyline said, you can host pretty much any script you want, so long as it doesn't cause a lot of load on the server and complies with the TOS. If you're concerned about being suspended, the most common reasons are for inactivity, causing high load, sending too many emails (there's a limit of about 50/day), or using cron too much (limited to 2 runs/day).

There's no age limit.

Just from experience it seems like proxy scripts, and abusers of php curl cause a lot more load and tend to get suspended quite often. This is probably why a lot of web hosts disable curl and disallow proxy scripts and other high load scripts that accomplish the same type of thing. Here at Heliohost you can use whatever scripts you want as long as they aren't illegal such as a phishing site, but we do suspend users that cause too much load. Curl can be quite useful and I use it a bit on some of my own personal pages, but you can't overuse it just like you can't overuse anything. Proxies are kind of silly because the internet is already full of literally millions of them, so I don't really understand why people risk having their hosting account suspended just to host one of their own.

Heliohost doesn't have an age limit, but where ever you live might have laws preventing you from doing certain things. For instance if you live in the US and are under age 13 you might need your parents permission to do certain things on the internet.
