QUOTE(Korps Commander @ Apr 15 2005, 07:37 PM)
Perhaps people aren't as smart enough as they used to be.............

And the U.S. COULD get better if more money would be spent at home.........................

Well, the majority of people now are in fact smarter than the people of thirty years ago, some just aren't as wise. I mean, we know more stuff than the people of the 30s did, because the world has developed a lot, therefore, today's students are educated a lot more and better.

Not necessarily. Do you know another reason why the United States is in the mid-east? I have one word for you: oil. While the United States is developing hydrogen fuel cells and hybrid-electric cars, there are still too many existing cars on the road that rely solely on gasoline. And many large reserves of crude oil can be found in the mid-east. Also, if the United States went to war with China, then it woul be an economic disaster, because the United States gets more than 40% of its imports from China. Not to mention that the United States also exports a lot of stuff to China. And export is important for a country's economic stability.

Despite having China be the biggest source of imports for the United States, we can still get imports from Mexico, Japan, Holland, Italy, Malaysia, Taiwan, et cetera.

I expect so. But exports are more important for a country's economy than the imports.

QUOTE(majazac @ Apr 14 2005, 02:09 PM)
the nuclear power situation itself is a freeze in war attempts. No countries that posesses nuclear bombs would attack another one who have nuclear power too. Otherwise we wouldn't have a world to fight for

You're right. As some people say, the world has reached the limit of war. Technology is so advanced by now that any advanced country can destroy any country as simple as clicking a few red buttons. This is just like WWI, with all the alliances, and just a little fuse waiting to be lit. Except, now, the destruction is at least 1000x. The world would literally blow up if a war between advanced countries started. Iraq lost because it wasn't advanced and had no advanced allies. But China on the other hand has nukes, and has allies with nukes.

If a crisis between China and Taiwan happened, the US would most likely stay out of it, until maybe the end. The US has had a policy of joining wars that it didn't start late.

If Bush is stupid, then he's a pawn, and controlled by smarter people, who wouldn't let America join in a war. If he's start, he'll keep America out himself.

Think about Grenada, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. The U.S. didn't hesitate fight these countries, even if the world is now stockpiled with WMDs. So, I don't think that fear of nuclear war is a problem for the U.S. In fact, the U.S. was even prepared to fight the Soviet Union and destroy the world...................................

If an actual war started between two countries, would there be a good chance of nuclear obliteration?

But exports are far more important because they determine a country's gross national produce (GNP). And this GNP is used to find out how good a country's economy is.

There is a crisis between China and Taiwan. A crisis is an unstable or crucial time or state of affairs in which a decisive change is impending.

No, it is pretty clear that he was implying that he thought a crisis between the two nations had not yet occurred.

I doubt that a war between China and Taiwan will happen anytime soon. Even if China thinks that the U.S. may not get involved, it will not take that risk.....

If a war between ONLY China and Taiwan occured, who would win, and how long would it take?
