[Solved] Error Trying To Validate My Tommy Account

Hello,

I successfully donated some money to Tommy and thus got an invite.

The email says "If you would like to create an account on Tommy please click the link below to begin:" and following that it has the HelioNet logo with an anchor caption that says "Validate Your Email Address."

When I click on it, it opens up to a link that has some code that I know is meant to let the page know it's me (or something to that effect), but then it goes to the page "https://www.heliohost.org/signup/username/" with just a blank white page on the outside. (When I bring up my Firefox inspection, there is some HTML code there for a Pinterest extension, but nothing else.)

I've tried clearing my cookies, restarting my browser, using a different browser (so far only tested on Chrome and IE; both said that the page couldn't be displayed).

I originally tried to do this on my phone through my phone's email, and it too brings up a blank page on FireFox mobile, and a "Can not be displayed" in Chrome mobile.

I've gone and tried once again removing my cookies, but specifically searching for and deleting any heliohost cookies, but still nothing.

I attached a screenshot of both my computer and my phone on that specific page for a visual reference.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong?

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I have a very similar problem (should I start another thread?) with a couple differences:

* I'm trying to create my account on Tommy at the "midnight window", instead of through invite.

* On the server selection screen, I select Tommy and click "Next", then...
* Instead of Firefox with a blank page, I get HTTP 500 with Chrome with the same URL mentioned (https://www.heliohost.org/signup/username/)

@jesse: Seeing it's the same page with the same error, I'll let you leave it here.

Normally we do prefer one person per topic though. It lets us quickly see how many are facing the same issue, and also helps keep things neat and avoid confusion that results from helping 2 people in 1 thread.

Okay, so I tried again just now (it's 8:16am my time [Central Time]) and it worked.I was

I was able to successfully apply for my account, and now I am just waiting patiently for it to be created.

I don't wanna close it yet because I see there is another person who commented who was having the same problem as me.

For some reason, just now I was able to successfully apply. (it's around 8:18am my time)

Is it still doing it to you?

Yes, there was an error with the signup script yesterday that resulted in 500 errors or blank pages. You can see on the server monitor how Tommy invitations were open for several hours http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/archive/?2017-01-09 This is because no one could create an account. Then at about 0700 UTC the script was fixed, so if you tried to create an account during those 7 or so hours you would have gotten this error.

Thanks for supposedly fixing the error and keeping the thread open, but I still cannot sign up. I refreshed the page at 2 seconds past midnight GMT, and it told me Tommy was full... I'm not sure I believe that, but I have no past experience with heliohost.

Nope, registrations opened, and filled that quickly. So quickly in fact that Piotr's monitor didn't even catch it, but there are definitely new accounts that were created today. If you don't like how fast registrations fill up you could always make a donation of any amount and receive a Tommy invitation which you can use whenever is convenient for you.

...and that's exactly what I did. Looked at Piotr's. That monitor has a resolution of just ~2m too, so those slots went extremely fast for the registrations to not be caught.

Didn't actually go look for the accounts since I've never seen a server fill that fast in 4 years...

In an effort to not hijack this thread, I've made a new one here and would appreciate the admins' consideration.

As far as I'm concerned, this support request can be closed.
