Remove My Domain Name From The Dns Servers

Hello,

I have been trying different ways of adding my domain name (let's call it example.com) to my account. First as an alias, I would like to try to add it as an addon domain.

However, I can't do anything as long as the domain name itself is still present in the DNS records.

Here are the errors I get:

Alias add:

There was an error when the system attempted to create the alias. Park::park(example.com) failed: (XID b8u74u) A DNS entry for “example.com” already exists. You must remove this DNS entry from all servers in the DNS cluster to proceed.

Addon domain add:

(XID rfyhyy) A DNS entry for “example.com” already exists. You must remove this DNS entry from all servers in the DNS cluster to proceed.

The NS fields are currently pointed to other servers than HelioHost's, and I removed every field from HelioHost's domain name servers that were associated with the domain, without solving the issue.

It would be nice if you could remove it from the DNS server. An option to do it on the cPanel would be even better ;)

While I am here, let me ask this question: I would like (www.)example.com to point to example.heliohost.org/wp. I need an addon domain for this, right?

Thanks in advance, and thank you for this great service :)

Also: no SSL login on a forum in 2017?

Can't do much of anything to help you without more information. There is obviously no DNS record for example.com nor did you state your username. Also, you won't be able to add an alias or addon domain without setting the name server (at least temporarily) to ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org. Yes, and addon domain pointed at the subdirectory public_html/wp would be a great way to do it.

Also: no SSL login on a forum in 2017?

I hadn't really thought about it recently, but you're right. I've added it to the todo list.

Thank you for everything. Sorry, I thought that was obvious, as my username on the forums is the same as the one on the cpanel, plus I am using the same mail address (and I think the account was created automatically).

I didn't share it for fear of leaking information (the login name, for example), but I guess it doesn't matter that much.

Anyway, there it is: airdeschoix.fr

At some point, ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org were used, but I thought that removing them would remove the domain from these servers, during some check.

Thank also for the very quick answer, I am really impressed :)

Your A record appears to be 127.0.0.1 https://bybyron.net/php/tools/dns_records.php?domain=airdeschoix.fr&rec=A not Johnny's IP. Your domain is not going to work until you get that changed to 64.62.211.131.

I've installed SSL on the forums. Thanks for the suggestion. There are a lot of weird little hardcoded http:// stuff in this forum though that is breaking ssl on a lot of pages. I've gone through and fixed about 50 of them, but if you see any other pages that doesn't say secure let us know.

Thank you very much. That was a leftover from when I tried to add a A record, hoping that the server would then notice the bad name servers and delete my domain. As you could see, I also restored the name servers at my registrar.

I think the one on this wiki page could be changed to https:

(and the target webpage seems somewhat broken, there is also the navigation bar links that are http, the iframe that points to http://www.heliohost.org/scripts/domain.php, the mobile detection script, and the jquery part that have http:// hardcoded as well). That's all I can think of for now.

Now, sorry to bother you again, but I have an issue with SSL:

The certificate could not be installed on the domain “airdeschoix.fr”.
  • error.png The certificate does not support the domain “airdeschoix.fr”. It supports these domains: airdeschoix.fr, forum.airdeschoix.fr, and www.airdeschoix.fr.

I usually have no trouble manually editing an apache configuration, but it looks like cpanel is another story...

It sounds like you're talking about heliohost.org/classic/ there. That site was created in like 2007 or something and we have no intention of updating it or upgrading it at all.

Now, sorry to bother you again, but I have an issue with SSL:

Maybe try creating it again at Let's Encrypt. Does it work without the forum. subdomain?

My bad. Everything seems to be alright then. I just had to manually append the "s" on my mobile phone, but that's probably because I accessed it from the old URL.

I just tried that. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case:

The certificate could not be installed on the domain “airdeschoix.fr”.

  • error.png The certificate does not support the domain “airdeschoix.fr”. It supports these domains: airdeschoix.fr and www.airdeschoix.fr.

What worked, however, was to use the first certificate for forum.airdeschoix.fr.

Interestingly, when trying to generate a CSR (which I thought might solve the problem by requesting a 2048bits cert, for example) from the Web UI, I got a message:

2 of the domains that you have entered are domains that you do not control.

for both airdeschoix.fr and www.airdeschoix.fr. So, it seems that the system either didn't register my ownership of the domain correctly, or it is having a hard time comparing the strings.

one more thing (which is not really important, merely interesting): http://forum.airdeschoix.fr and https://forum.airdeschoix.fr do not display the same information (it looks like the cgi-bin system doesn't support SSL, but you might already be aware of this, and this is only transient - I guess a cron job updates a per-server apache configuration file, or something similar).

Fixed.

Yeah, it can take up to 24 hours for a domain to start working.

Well, that wasn't the point, though (and wasn't really visible anymore when you posted your comment, IIRC).

As I still had the aforementioned issues with "installing SSL certificates", I tried to remove the domain from the addon domains (to re-add it later).

I had the following error messages when I tried to delete it:

The adminbin “park” in the “Cpanel” namespace call to function “DELADDON” ended prematurely: The subprocess ended prematurely because it received the “ALRM” (14) signal.

Internal Server Error

500

No response from subprocess ( (cpanel)): The subprocess ended prematurely because it received the “ALRM” (14) signal.

Anyway, the domain was removed from the "Addon domains" page, though not from the DNS Zone editor one.

Now, when trying to re-add the domain to the addon domains, I get the following error message:

(XID y4y8yj) The domain “airdeschoix.fr” already exists in the Apache configuration.

I waited a few days before writing this, to be sure that every configuration change would be propagated.

At this point, I wouldn't mind the whole configuration to be reset, since there seems to be some leftovers of faulty/stale/former configuration files.

The only way to reset your entire account is to delete it http://www.heliohost.org/classic/support/scripts/delete and recreate it https://www.heliohost.org/signup/

Ok, I just did that. However, I am back at step #1:

(XID d9jp3a) A DNS entry for “airdeschoix.fr” already exists. You must remove this DNS entry from all servers in the DNS cluster to proceed.

Could you please just remove this entry from the DNS servers? I will handle the rest.

Thank you in advance :)

I just tried it again, it is still giving me the same error.

I don't remember exactly when I deleted my account, but it has been a few hours (24-48, I think). My new account is the same without the last letter, by the way, as it told me it was already in use.
