HelioHost Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 (edited) Username: daskunk, Server: Johnny, Main domain: daskunk.heliohost.org Hello I am so sorry, I just saw the updated ticket now because I didn't get any email to prompt me otherwise I would've responded immediately. I would like Option 4. Could you please move my entire account to Ricky? I assume it has all the same facilities (perl, PHP, postgresql, etc) as Johnny so that my site will run the same way? Is there anything I need to do on my side once you move it? Thank you SO MUCH for all your efforts. I really do like your site and really need to get my web site back on line. I will be traveling for much of tomorrow but if you could please update me via email to [redacted] that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again Gary -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yeah, I've been fiddling with this ssl on your account all day and it just doesn't want to work. Johnny is too overloaded to do ssl well. Ricky and Tommy actually have something called autossl where they install an ssl certificate on all of your domains for you, and then even update it when it gets close to expiring. So that said, my recommendations are: 1) Forget about https and just use http for your site on Johnny. 2) You can delete your Johnny account and move to Ricky. 3) You can delete your Johnny account and move to Tommy (but you'll have to wait nearly 24 hours to create the new account since he's full for the day already.) 4) I can move your account to Ricky for free. 5) I can move your account to Tommy for a donation even though the server is full for the day. Option 4 is probably best unless you're interested in donating and being on our best, fastest, and highest uptime server. Edited December 10, 2017 by Krydos removed email address
Krydos Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Sorry for the delayed response. Our email system got backed up yesterday. Ricky doesn't have java, asp.net, or ruby on rails. Ricky does have perl, php, postgresql, etc. though. Also as a bonus Ricky allows you to choose between php 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 7.0, 7.1, or 7.2 where Johnny only has php 5.6. I'll begin moving your account to Ricky now.
Krydos Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Ok, your account is on Ricky now. You will need to reset your password at https://www.heliohost.org/reset/ before you'll be able to log in though. Your website should be back online shortly. Next I will get SSL working for you.
Krydos Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Ok, your site is back online, but on Ricky now. If you see a 404 error or a Johnny queued page don't forget to clear your browser cache and flush your os dns records. Next step SSL.
Krydos Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Alright, now your domain is secure too. https://daskunk.heliohost.org/ This certificate will automatically update itself when it gets close to expiring so you shouldn't have to worry about ssl at all anymore. Enjoy.
HelioHost Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 HelloI've been traveling all day just got to a hotel where I could check myemail. I finally caught up on all the emails and just reset my password andlogged into the new site. Thank you SO MUCH for helping me out. I do seem to have a couple of issuesI noticed right way. The first is that none of the files in any of the sub-folders under the PBCfolder have permissions. So I can't seem to view or edit any of them. The second is I'm not sure if my userid changed or not. It was alwaysdaskunk and I had a password I set up on the first day of Johnny. I alwayslogged into cpanel using daskunk and that password --and-- I FTP'd usingdaskunk and that password. When I went to reset my password a few minutes ago, I tried using daskunk(and a new password) but I kept getting errors. Then I noticed it asked foruserid or email so I tried it with this email (daskunkworks@gmail) and thatworked. So I got a new password. I can log into cpanel now usingdaskunkworks@gmail and the new password but I can't FTP. Also when I login, it shows the userid as daskunk. My concern is all those files youmigrated were created under the daskunk userid so I wonder if this could berelated to the permissions issue. Anyway I was wondering if I could get thedaskunk userid back and just have a new password on that userid. Thanks againGary On Sun, Dec 10, 2017 at 5:07 PM, Heliohost Support wrote: > Alright, now your domain is secure too. https://daskunk.heliohost.org/> This certificate will automatically update itself when it gets close to> expiring so you shouldn't have to worry about ssl at all anymore. Krydos Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 The only way to change the userid is to delete the account and recreate it. Was it not daskunk before? Johnny did have some issues transferring your account over. First time that's happened actually, and the file permissions got messed up. I manually changed everything recursively to 644 owned by daskunk, but directories are actually supposed to be 755. I was more focused on getting your website back online and ssl installed.
HelioHost Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 OK I was able to resolve the userid issue. I used the main cpanel and gotthe password reset for daskunk so now I'm logged in as daskunk. As soon asI did that I saw the new permissions. I thought I fixed that but I guess itwas a coincidence and now I'm seeing the updates you made .. thank youagain. So the only problem I have at the moment is even though I can log in asdaskunk into cpanel, I still can't FTP using daskunk as the userid. Theauthentication step just hangs. Do I need to specifically set something up? ThanksGary On Sun, Dec 10, 2017 at 5:43 PM, Heliohost Support wrote: > The only way to change the userid is to delete the account and recreate> it. FTP is now working also. Perhaps it just needed somepropagation time after I reset the password again. The other question I have is ... is CGI allowed on Ricky? I noticed thecgi-bin folder was empty and it was the only one where my data wasn'tmigrated. I have all the files locally so I simply uploaded the cgi perlscripts I need, so they are back now .. but I started wondering if youdidn't copy them because CGI is not allowed on Ricky. I definitely rely onmy CGI perl scripts. Thanks again On Sun, Dec 10, 2017 at 5:51 PM, Heliohost Support wrote: > OK I was able to resolve the userid issue. Krydos Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 Try these settings: Host: ricky.heliohost.org Port: 1312 Protocol: SFTP Logon type: Normal User: daskunk Password: <same as cpanel>
HelioHost Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 I think our emails crossed but I have FTP working now. I noticed another folder missing. I had a .auth folder with some criticalfiles in it. Is it possible to get those recovered? I thought the .auth is also needed for SSL? Thanks,Gary On Sun, Dec 10, 2017 at 6:02 PM, Heliohost Support wrote: > Try these settings:Host: ricky.heliohost.orgPort: 1312Protocol: SFTPLogon> type: NormalUser: daskunkPassword: >> You may view the status of your ticket by visiting:>> https://www.helionet.org/index/index.php?showtopic0856>> Thank you,> Heliohost support> https://www.heliohost.org/> https://www.helionet.org/>>
Krydos Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 The .auth directory is not needed for ssl. The system will create a file in /home/daskunk/public_html/.well-known/pki-validation/ when it is creating or renewing your certificates. I have uploaded the full backup of your Johnny account to /home/daskunk/cpmove-daskunk.tar.gz You can download that archive to your home computer and extract whatever files or settings you need from there. Once again I'm sorry the transfer process wasn't smoother. Normally all of this is done fully automatically, but like I said Johnny managed to botch the job somehow so I had to do most of the transfer manually.
HelioHost Posted December 11, 2017 Author Posted December 11, 2017 Again thank you so much for doing this. With the tar ball I was able toretrieve the files I needed. Since Ricky is using a different version of PHP, I have tripped over somethings that need code updates but slowly I'm getting everything restored. Ihaven't tried restoring the SSL (https) yet but will try that next. Gary On Sun, Dec 10, 2017 at 9:47 PM, Heliohost Support wrote: > The .auth directory is not needed for ssl.
