7 reasons the world will end in 2012

Scientific experts from around the world are genuinely predicting that five years from now, all life on Earth could well finish. Some are saying it'll be humans that set it off. Others believe that a natural phenomenon will be the cause. And the religious folks are saying it'll be God himself who presses the stop button...

1. Mayan Calendar

The first mob to predict 2012 as the end of the world were the Mayans, a bloodthirsty race that were good at two things:

Building highly accurate astrological equipment out of stone and

Sacrificing Virgins.

Thousands of years ago they managed to calculate the length of the lunar moon as 329.53020 days, only 34 seconds out. The Mayan calendar predicts that the Earth will end on December 21, 2012. Given that they were pretty close to the mark with the lunar cycle, it's likely they've got the end of the world right as well.

2. Sun Storms

Solar experts from around the world monitoring the sun have made a startling discovery: our sun is in a bit of strife. The energy output of the sun is, like most things in nature, cyclic, and it's supposed to be in the middle of a period of relative stability. However, recent solar storms have been bombarding the Earth with so much radiation energy, it's been knocking out power grids and destroying satellites. This activity is predicted to get worse, and calculations suggest it'll reach its deadly peak sometime in 2012

3. The Atom Smasher

Scientists in Europe have been building the world's largest particle accelerator. Basically its a 27km tunnel designed to smash atoms together to find out what makes the Universe tick. However, the mega-gadget has caused serious concern, with some scientists suggesting that it's properly even a bad idea to turn it on in the first place. They're predicting all manner of deadly results, including mini black holes. So when this machine is fired up for its first serious experiment in 2012, the world could be crushed into a super-dense blob the size of a basketball.

4. The Bible says...

If having scientists warning us about the end of the world isn't bad enough, religious folks are getting in on the act aswell. Interpretations of the Christian Bible reveal that the date for Armageddon, the final battle between Good an Evil, has been set down for 2012. The I Ching, also known as the Chinese book of Changes, says the same thing, as do various sections of the Hindu teachings.

5. Super Volcano

Yellowstone National Park in the United States is famous for its thermal springs and Old Faithful geyser. The reason for this is simple - it's sitting on top of the world's biggest volcano, and geological experts are beginning to get nervous sweats. The Yellowstone volcano has a pattern of erupting every 650,000 years or so, and we're many years overdue for an explosion that will fill the atmosphere with ash, blocking the sun and plunging the Earth into a frozen winter that could last up to 15,000 years. The pressure under the Yellowstone is building steadily, and geologists have set 2012 as a likely date for the big bang.

6. The Physicists

This one's case of bog-simple maths mathematics. Physicists at Berekely Uni have been crunching the numbers. and they've determined that the Earth is well overdue for a major catastrophic event. Even worse, they're claiming their calculations prove, that we're all going to die, very soon - while also saying their prediction comes with a certainty of 99 percent- and 2012 just happens to be the best guess as to when it occurs.

7. Slip-Slop-Slap-BANG!

We all know the Earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that sheilds us from most of the sun's radiation. What you might not know is that the magnetic poles we call north and south have a nasty habit of swapping places every 750,000 years or so - and right now we're about 30,000 years overdue. Scientists have noted that the poles are drifting apart roughly 20-30kms each year, much faster than ever before, which points to a pole-shift being right around the corner. While the pole shift is underway, the magnetic field is disrupted and will eventually disappear, sometimes for up to 100 years. The result is enough UV outdoors to crisp your skin in seconds, killing everything it touches.

I did not make this, but I stand by it fully, prove me wrong.

In a sense of religion I can not debate you. Many religious fanatics believe the world will end very shortly in some sort of apocalypse. I do, however, have to inform you that science in no way shape or form (maybe a few crazies) think the world will end in the next ten years. Yellowstone national park is a real super volcanoes but it would not even affect the entire United States directly, let alone destroy the entire world. We do have some disasters that very possible, but so far none of them would destroy the world.

Your "reasons" are nothing more than superstitious nonsense for the most part, and the little that's not is pseudoscientific [bleeped!]. The world is not going to end in 2012, and a pole-shift wouldn't be as disastrous as you claim. Yes, our lives would be changed a massive deal, but not like that.

1. They had real reason to understand that the moon thing. Why would they think the world would end at such a time? And did they predict how?

2. I find this one a little hard to believe...There are a lot of crazy "scientific" discoveries out there that turn out to be fake.

3. If it was a black hole, it would exponentially get smaller and smaller, not the size of a basketball. That's not how black holes are made or work, that's just silly.

4. You know what else the bible says? The world was made in 7 days, which has been scientifically disproved.

5. Well if it's already 15,000 years overdue... why would this prediction be so accurate?

6. What says this? Nothing is proven, it's just a random prediction as far as you're telling me.

7. This says nothing about 2012..

This post is just silly. It was probably made up by some guy who decided "Hey, I'm going to scare some morons on the internet who are willing to believe anything they read!". This man was also a moron. For example, look at his horrendous grammar. "...crunching the numbers. and they've determined that..." "Even worse, they're claiming their calculations prove, that we're all going to die, very soon..." What's with all the unnecessary commas in the second one and the period thrown in there in the first one? He also refers to Berkeley University as "Berkeley Uni". There are also many other things that say the Earth is going to end at other times. For example, there is a 1 in something like 17000 chance that a meteor will hit earth and destroy it in 2032. Some religious thing I read about said the world was going to end in 2004.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet, especially something with nothing to back it up.

End of the world? That would be unfortunate. But I'm not going on anything the Mayans said. They were much less cooler than the Aztecs, who got annihilated by a few Spaniards and some Tlaxcalans. I mean, what, around 400 Spaniards? The Spanish were silly. Could have been done by 200 Germans. 50 Prussians. Anyway, so the Mayans are obviously not a trusty source of information regarding the future.

If I'm wrong, feel free to mock me. In fact, feel free to bet me any sum on this matter. I'll take it!

HOW WACK@@!@! but wait........ dont you think armageddon is the super volcano which is like something like bad comming out.... like evil.... not like i believe that the world will end in 2012 but the worst thing that can happen is the super volcano exploding and all we can do is prepare for this

Well... those reasons based on scientific proves, I believed in that, but not too fast.

Scientists have a bad habit, THEY LOVES TO MAKE THINGS GO BIG TO MAKE FAME.

Because what they've discovered, will get no 100% prove, the only proof they've got is mathematical calculation, physics law and so on. So in case they found something, they can exaggerate as serious as they could. Before someone proves them wrong, it could take centuries!

But one thing here, if Armageddon is really coming, I guess the reason would be the Great Floor due to global warming. This is a fact, just the matter of time it happens. Please take note of the importance of global warming. Recycle.

Yep, heard its going to be a Monday. So what do we do with this information? Guess we should all just pack up and leave planet Earth.

Tell NASA about this and request an air plane to fly us to Moon / Mars.

Or ask Noah to build a giant boat to allow us to stay inside ^^
