[Solved] Change dedicated IP address?

Recently a malware used one of my e-mail accounts to send thousands of SPAM and my IP was blacklisted in several antispam services. I was able to remove from the lists of all services except gmail.

Is it possible to change my dedicated IP address?

OK, I understand and your explanation seems fair.

I am making the necessary arrangements to "clean" my IP but I do not know how long it may take. Meanwhile I'm looking for alternatives.

Can I get (buy) another dedicated IP and leave the current one unused?

i don't want to butt in, just want to understand the mechanics.

Don't all users on the same server get the same ip address?  say me and this guy both reside on tommy, don't we both use tommy's address, namely 65.19.143.6

You do unless you buy a dedicated IP. With a dedicated IP your account gets its own IP that's not shared with anyone.

This particular user has such an IP, and managed to get it blocked by a few mail providers for spam. He was the only one who got blocked because no other accounts use that IP.
