dj123w1
When is Sitepad website editor coming to Tommy?
wolstech
That was a trial product. As far as I know, it saw virtually no demand considering you're the first to ask about it. Krydos would know more about this, but I suspect the answer is "it's not".
Krydos
We tried it out eleven months ago https://www.helionet.org/index/topic/29740-site-builder/ As far as I know, you're the first person to ask about it. While the trial was active maybe a dozen people tried it out, and for the most part they didn't think it was worth it. If it was a free product it would make sense to use it, but doesn't make sense to pay for a product that is only used by one person every eleven months. If you want to make a donation specifically for sitepad I'll install it for you.
dj123w1
What would be the recommended donation amount? I donated to the Tommy server.
Krydos
Sitepad is $5 per month https://sitepad.com/pricing How many months do you want to use it for? I believe you can keep the website pages after the subscription ends. You just have to edit the code if you want to make a change.
dj123w1
Also do these servers support saml?
dj123w1
Personally, the websites I want to use Sitepad for may be used indefinitely. Will I have to pay for indefinite use? Its not just one website by the way its a set of websites attached to one domain.
Krydos
Cpanel and SAML are not compatible. I believe you can keep the website pages after the subscription ends. You just have to edit the code if you want to make a change. So if you can get all of your pages created in one month then you can let it expire and your pages should all still work. Is it possible to set up SAML for the Webmail portal and those sets of websites, or is Cpanel in control of the webmail login portal?
Krydos
Cpanel is in control of everything. Without cpanel we wouldn't even have http access.
dj123w1
Alright. Well, the sites would need constant updating and much of the team I have doesn't know code. Plus that's a bummer because I need a unified business login portal. Thanks guys. Are there any free alternatives to Sitepad that can be installed on Cpanel that is just as good? Krydos
I haven't been able to find one. Sitepad was the cheapest/best option I found. That's why we did a trial of it. Running a joomla site doesn't require any coding knowledge. You can try it out by installing it through the softaculous button in your cpanel. I'm not sure what kind of website you need exactly, but HelioHost actually used joomla for our main website from 2008 or so until 2017 or so. We never got hacked a single time either which is pretty good for a cms. Whatever you do stay away from wordpress though.

wolstech
With respect to the SAML issue, there's no way to make cpanel itself a saml data consumer. You can make a saml IDP though that verifies against the mail server (this would let users use their email credentials to sign into various applications). If you want the reverse (log into webmail client using saml), just install your own webmail client that supports consumption of saml auth data... Look up simplesamlphp. This is totally doable, just a pain since you need to code an auth module for it and set up an IDP so you have a saml identity source that authenticates against the mail server, and then install a webmail client that consumes the identity source's data.
