Hi

I am trying to point a subdomain i got from freedns (example.uk.to) to my heliohost website (example.heliohost.org)

CNAME and NS records are disbaled so im left with A and AAAA records (and some others that i doubt are useful like MX and SPF)

Can anyone help with this issue?

Thanks

We don't support A records for any domain that's not your main domain, so you won't be able to use that here unless you make it your main domain (which will delete your heliohost.org subdomain). Please be advised that if you decide to make it your main domain, mail, cPanel's DNS functions, CloudFlare, and several other functions won't work properly without using our name servers. We also won't provide any form of support for an account used in this manner since we cannot troubleshoot or make any guarantees as to what will and will not work

Last time I heard, those domains supported custom DNS servers though. Usually you won't create NS records, but rather find an option buried somewhere else that's labeled "Custom DNS Server", or "Use my own name server" or similar.

You may try the following:

1. At the freedns.afraid.org set the example.uk.to as NS type subdomain pointing to the address ns1.heliohost.org.

Wait some time for propagation.

2. At the HelioHost cPanel try to add example.uk.to as a parked domain (parked, if you wish to point it to the same files you already have accessible through example.heliohost.org).

As wolstech wrote, HelioHost will accept as the addon or parked domain only such domains, that are pointing to the HelioHost nameservers. I'm not sure if it will accept domain with only one NS record pointed to the ns1.heliohost.org  (you can not add more on freedns.afraid.org).

If HelioHost cPanel will accept it, note the inconvenience, that practically only ns1 will be used for your domain (that's the way it is with freedns.afraid.org).

My brandnew VPS is running, with Hestia installed. Next step: moving my website (hosted on Tommy) to the VPS. I suppose that this is essentially 3 steps: Create a new domain record, create a new web record and upload the files. Two major questions:
      1. I suppose that HelioHost has to delete my actual DNS records (on Tommy), before I can create new ones?
      2. Must I change server names at my DNS provider's? What are the DNS servers responsible for myvps.heliohost.us? My VPS itself, perhaps?
Another question concerns security. What should I absolutely do to avoid hacking and other problems?
Thanks for answer. And thanks for having the possibility to have this amazing experience, that's mostly complete newland for me.

To the those who complain when they get suspended for high server usage. Heliohost is a FREE and an AMAZING host that tries its best to provide unlimited hosting.

If you do need more space and storage then maybe you should have hosted an Apache server or a windows IIS server (both free) on your own computer and then you can get all your resources to yourself. Then you would be able to see that what you are hosting is slowing down everybody's hosting accounts making them not able to appreciate this AMAZING FREE HOST.

Sorry if this is harsh but Thank You.

If you think that the cPanel email is slow. Then I recommend trying out Yandex. You first sign up and create an account and organization. Then you go to admin and add your domains (the first one is the main domain the others are aliases). After that you add their MX record, SPF, and DKIM records. Click add a person and fill in the mandatory info and write your email and passwords.

Voila, you got yourself a fast and free domain email (that you can connect to Gmail or Microsoft 360).

P.S the limit is 1000 email accounts and 10 GB each.

Folks, I'd like to know if I'm doing this right:
      ns1.heliohost.us
      ns2.heliohost.us

I've just acquired a domain at Freenom (sitesfy.tk) and there in the DNS zone configuration I'm pointing there (data above). Is that all? How will your system know which site it's pointing to, as there are a lot of sites in your shared server. Isn't the IP necessary? Thanks.
