My server is dead! (VPS user on Eddie)

Hi

 

My server is dead stockdiv.com, maybe the VPS is down or something?

I can't connect to it in any way, ping is also down.

update: everything is up. Except email

 

When retrieving email using gmail, I get: Server returned error "SSL error: Leaf certificate is expired" - I tried to uncheck and re-check the ssl checkbox and a new certificate was issued but that didn't help.

 

and when sending to mail-tester:

Reverse DNS lookup or reverse DNS resolution (rDNS) is the determination of a domain name that is associated with a given IP address.
Some companies such as AOL will reject any message sent from a server without rDNS, so you must ensure that you have one.
You cannot associate more than one domain name with a single IP address.

Your IP address 216.218.228.90 is associated with the domain mail.stockdiv.com.
Nevertheless your message appears to be sent from stockdiv.com.

You may want to publish a pointer (PTR type) DNS record with a value of stockdiv.com or use mail.stockdiv.com as hostname in your mail software

Here are the tested values for this check:
  • IP: 216.218.228.90
  • HELO: stockdiv.com
  • rDNS: mail.stockdiv.com

I noticed quite a bit of oddity after that reboot, the forum has been acting kind of odd as well (lots of things marked themselves as unread, a spam account unflagged itself...).

Krydos might be able to fix this for you quickly, but be aware it may take some time because we're obviously more concerned about the data of the 1000s of users on tommy at the moment.

Please do not PM me for support. Posting on our forums lets all of us learn.

I second what you wrote, even explaining me what to do (just like I managed to fix the other issues myself) will be a solution for me. Now I'm locked out.

 

On the other hand, last times, Krydos fixed this kind of things in minutes, I guess writing me what to do will take him more time :)

Yeah I too noticed that. After the reboot I was signed off my account. After I loved in and pressed 'New Content' I found topics a couple of days old to marked as unread for me.

The real thing here is that fixing it will take Krydos 2 minutes...

The real thing here is that fixing it will take Krydos 2 minutes...

 

I hope you realize that tone your taking is with volunteers who work on this server in their FREE TIME. 

 

I am literally waiting for my site to come back up and have not complained once.

I get frustration. I know how it feels.

 

I'm sorry for assuming you might have been angry, but I got that tone from the text. I guess I got frustration and anger mixed up.

 

I used to. I was one of the first. I think I was vps5 or something. Krydos helped me a lot, granted, when he could. I never bothered him unless i knew for a fact he didn't have anything else to do. But then again, I didnt have alot of users on my site anyway, so nothing was really that urgent.

That's the difference, I have a vps and I do need it up and running... and the emails... well, no need to explain :) I fixed myself whatever I know myself, this is the last thing to do and Krydos can fix it in no time (like he did in the past) and it's frustrating that instead of spending that minute to fix it, I'm thrown to the end of the line.

 

It's been almost 48 hours, where all I need is 1 minute. In the meantime, I'm locked out. I'm biased but I think my frustration is justified.

I've been reading this thread for more than a minute and I don't even know what it is you think you want me to do. Can you explain it simply and succinctly. I really am quite busy right now with a million other things.
