[Solved] Ricky to Tommy Move

Computer Nerd Kev

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Temporary Ricky User: cnk2
Old Tommy user: cnk
Domain: computernerdkev.heliohost.org
Sub-Domain: antihttps.com
Sub-Domain: ombertech.com

The email address used to register the Ricky account was different to the Tommy account.

As a donor, I got the invite to the restored Tommy server. However the site says that computernerdkev.heliohost.org is not available (presumably because I'm still using the Ricky account).

What is the best way to move from Ricky to Tommy and keep the existing domains?

It would be ideal if an admin could copy the contents of my cnk2 home dir. to cnk on Tommy, then delete the Ricky account before setting up the domains with the Tommy account. Or else I could restore from backup (already made) from my end, so long as I know that the domains will be able to be linked to the new Tommy account.

Thank you.

Best way to migrate is to create a full cPanel backup from Ricky, request an account deletion and then recreate the account on Tommy. Once you restore the cPanel backup, all files will get to their location automatically unlike the backup you got after Tommy crashed.

I can move the account and all domains with it but your username would be cnk2 on Tommy. If you want to use the old Tommy username then I'll need to delete the account and clean up the domains from the dns cluster and let you restore it from your backup and re-create the sub-domains.

Let me know.

Keep in mind that Byron can't move your account right now, because we're still in the process of working our way down the list. Once the list is done we can go back to moving donors as before. If you were on Tommy before you're already on the list and you just need to wait. If your Ricky email address matches your old Tommy email address your account will be moved automatically. If you'd rather receive an invite just make sure your Ricky email address is something different and you will get the invitation email sent to the old Tommy email address. Let us know if that doesn't make sense, and sorry about not being able to jump the line. The list was made and ordered to be as fair as possible, and it wouldn't be fair to the other thousands of users to allow people who posted on the forums to be moved up in priority.

EDIT:

Ignore all of the above. I just checked and you've already been sent your invite off the list. Byron you can take care of him how you were planning. Sorry for the confusion.

Also not mentioned yet but of course I'd appreciate them restored to the account - donation perks:

* 2000MB storage

* 4 months account expiry immunity

Also email limit at 600 as a result of this request (still haven't got that project finished yet though...):

Thank you.

One thing that I've noticed is that Tommy is now enforcing more strict requirements for using newer SSL encryption systems than it was before, and also compared to Ricky. This means that some of my software needs to be updated (where possible, unfortunately...) in order to connect, eg. email client, because the SSL libraries used don't support the newer encryption protocols/cyphers. I imagine that this will affect other users moving back onto Tommy, who might suspect a server-side problem.

Also, the Squirrelmail webmail software has been removed from the newer version of CPanel used on Tommy - just a warning to people moving across who may have been using it.

Squirrelmail was removed BY Cpanel: https://blog.cpanel.com/the-death-of-squirrelmail/
