Tommy Upgraded

HelioHost

Recommended Posts

Our flagship server has received some considerable upgrades over the last month that we wanted to let you all know about. Tommy was already our best server, but since the opportunity arose we went ahead and made him even better. Obviously we had to replace the hard drive, but we didn't cheap out. We purchased a brand new high performance drive that in benchmark testing is resulting in up to 840% faster reads and writes than Tommy's old set up. We've doubled the number of CPU cores from 4 up to 8 which should allow even faster processing power and improved multitasking. We've also increased the memory by a whopping 160%, and increased the available swap space by another 160%. Tommy also sports all the cutting edge software, such as the latest versions of cpanel 82, django 2.2.5, flask 1.1.1, python 3.7, node 10.16.3, and a lot more. We're still in the process of moving people back onto Tommy, but we've already had some really positive feedback. One user that has been moved back to Tommy already simply said, "Wow! Tommy speed :)". We think that sums things up nicely. Let us know if you have any questions.

Very good news! However, I'm worry about finances. How could you do it? Because, even if Sparkie's server fundraising didn't reach the goal, you bought it + you bought hardware to upgrade Tommy.

Who do we have to thank for his/her generosity? :)

<p>The thing is - HelioHost had also received many donations through PayPal which made them reach 85% of their goal. Besides, Sparkie will serve as a good opportunity to rebuild Johnny and increase it's efficieny.<br />

<br />

Also in the past, we've seen HelioHost lose a lot of money but for the sake of their users, they continued then too. If I amnt wrong, last year itself, they lost $1839, still they continued their services.<br />

<br />

If you wanna thank, thank the whole HelioHost team. Of course, if Ashoat wouldn't have started it back in 2005, we'd not have what it's today. The whole team deserves a big 'THANK YOU!'</p>

I can't wait to go back to Tommy. Checking my mail box about 10-20 times everyday for invitation/moving to Tommy.

Me too.

Wait, Tommy is getting another upgrade?!

Woop woop! He is gonna be MUCH faster than anticipated!

The title says Tommy upgraded. So I don't think Tommy will get another upgrade. Because it has been upgraded already.

I hope that i'm gonna be back on Tommy soon and have again my default domain name: http://sylvain.heliohost.org

Also that the things that i asked as a donator gonna realize.

The thing that is not clear for me, when clicking on Paypal you see some numbers: 0,00 US. Because of the symbol is " , " and not " . (dot) ". It's not clear if: 0,01 = 1$ US or 1,00 is 1$ US ?? Paypal should change that, or someone should tell them.

It depends. Different countries use different separators, so it is not necessarily an error. PayPal probably displayed it with a comma separator based your location and/or language.

Here in Canada it should also be with a (dot). With a dot it's universal and world wide. It mean the pennys of a dollar, but with a coma this is wrong.

Ive tryed to contact them, and there form ask of course email. But when they also ask (states) my country is not in the list, it's only a list of the US.

Also it's writen(postal code) but here our postal code are a mix of letters and numbers. As exemple L = letter, N = number, well in Canada our system of postal code is: LNL (space) NLN. Like the adress: (name:) Santa Claus , (destination:) North Pole , (country:) Canada , (postal code:) H0H 0H0.

There are actually children that ask there parents to send a letter to Santa Claus. As you have guessed the postal code mean: HO HO HO. After a while they receive a (general letter) from our Canada mail post office. Saying it come from Santa.

The point is that it (seem) that Paypal is only for the US.
