[Solved] "Backed up" milano would like to make a comeback on Tommy

"All of the accounts that were on Tommy when he crashed have now been transferred back, or invited to create a new account. If you haven't received your invite, or if your account wasn't automatically transferred please let us know now by creating a new topic in the customer support forum."

"That account has been backed up and then taken offline due to extended maintenance on the server that you were on."

The above shown at logon suggests that in spite of a user's https://www.helionet.org/index/topic/36848-solved-donation/ , milano has not been invited back or reactivated from archive yet.

That's because it got lost in the storm of requests we had.

An invite has been sent for a replacement account. :) It should arrive at the email address associated with your forum profile.

Thanks, good work, and I am happy most could be recovered from such a crash after all!

Bringing back my files and permissions went well, though there does not seem to be a bulk-upload option for the entire tar.gz archive, and paths have changed from /home1 to /home.

A pity the account could not simply be reactivated with all in place, and for the donors that it took longer this way in spite of their efforts though.

Noticed some (presumably new) bug when (re)creating the (not-all-lowercase) mail accounts, it throws these messages (somewhat contradictory to humans) in sequence:
Error: You do not have an email account named “ALLCAPS@m...heliohost.org”.
Error: The account allcaps@m...heliohost.org already exists!

Sadly milano on Tommy got suspended right away, before it could even cause its usual near-zero load. Could you kindly unblock that?

I hope there's nothing on your systems considering it spam to have informed (just once) my hundred-odd users eagerly awaiting the service back since August.

It got suspended for exactly that...the system thought you were sending spam because you sent too many emails. The limit is 50/day.

Unsuspended.

Thanks, so it's the number of recipients (each counted as a mail of its own, and not queued for the next day anymore in excess of 50?): I'll bear this in mind.

Or isn't it? Keeps showing suspended (though I haven't sent any more than the initial 3 mails of course - can't rule out you did queue one of course)...

If you send two emails today, then the next day, it will reset it back to zero.

Your account got suspended again because of sending too many emails.

Unsuspended.

https://www.heliohost.org/status/?u=milano keeps saying suspended, though I haven't (i.e. couldn't) send any more mails. I suppose it's the same "offending" outbound email (my apologies for that!) which is already on your mail server and makes the system auto-suspend milano again, maybe once for every Bcc recipient - but how could I remove that?

It doesn't matter how you send them or break them up, each recipient counts as one email. Sending 50 emails each with one recipient, or one email with 50 recipients, or 2 emails each with 25 recipients...all would use your allotment of 50/day up.

This change was made early this year after a phisher discovered 1 email with 200 recipients was only counted as one email...

Surely haven't tried to mess with anything there: All I did send manually, innocuously enough, were 3 mails with about some 40 recipients each in Bcc (unaware of a hard limit on these) right after uploading milano to Tommy again.

So I think there are not actually any new mails being detected (but rather some defense overreacting) as nothing in my code sends any either.

The only other thing trying to generate mail "from" my account I could think of would be your process to create SSL keys that I recall used to be on Tommy before the crash.

Unsuspended. The reason it kept suspending over and over is because normally you have to wait until midnight UTC for the new day to start before you can be unsuspended for sending too many emails otherwise it just counts the total emails you sent today and suspends you again.
