Yes, all of our cPanel servers, Tommy, Ricky, Johnny, Cody, and Brody, have had their licenses revoked. We aren't able to provide any kind of free shared hosting right now. All of the VPS subscriptions are unaffected though.

Yeah, and the worst part is cPanel gave us absolutely no warning. They didn't even email us saying "You're licenses have been revoked." A user tried to login to cPanel and got an error message and reported it to us is how we found out. Completely ridiculous, and very unprofessional behavior. They obviously just got too greedy and decided to try to hijack our servers for ransom money.

So your choice is plesk, is it free? Is the interface quite similar to
cpanel?

The main reason we choose Plesk is because it can be installed on our Linux servers as well as our Windows server. We've had a Windows server for a few years, but hardly anyone uses it because there is no control panel and all of the accounts on it have to be created manually. By having the same Plesk control panel on all of our servers we'll be able to seamlessly connect them all together and easily create accounts and manage them all.

As far as the price, we applied for the non-profit discount that Plesk offers and they approved us, on the condition that they be allowed to feature our story and put our logo on their main website. Obviously we agreed because that will be a great way for even more people to find out about HelioHost. The deal that Plesk is offering us is much better than the deal we had with cPanel. We will continue to be able to offer free hosting on Tommy, Ricky, and Johnny just like we have been doing for years.

You can try out Plesk on their demo site https://docs.plesk.com/try-plesk-now/ We will be using the WebHost edition not the WebPro. The links there log in to the admin control panel that normal users won't have access to, but through that admin panel you can create a user account for yourself and log in to that to see how it will look.

We're really excited to switch control panels, and Plesk was our first choice. We've been looking at it for years ever since we set up our Windows server, but it was always too daunting of a proposition to try to convert everything from cPanel to Plesk. Now that cPanel has forced our hand we can finally do the upgrade like we've always wanted to.

It's just really unfortunate that our users will have to suffer for a while because of how evil cPanel is.
