  1. Hello all! I have ran into a problem, and hoping for some help from the wonderful HelioHost community. Recently I've been assigned to help with shift scheduling on my EMS department. They are looking for something in which they can use online, people can log on, and sign up for certain shifts. In softaculous there are a few calendars which i think i can make work (with a few bumps), but was hoping for a better solution to this. Anyone have any ideas?
  2. Thank you cl58! I greatly appreciate the recommendation. 5 stars =)
  3. Well.. I wanna start working on a my own home page, id say i'm an basic to intermediate html-er. I'm a computer geek (repair basically) and thought i'd maybe throw in something for some how-to files, n forum for questions and friends
  4. In your personal opinion, which one would you choose?
  5. I have been on Helionet for a few days, and now that everything is taken care of with Stevie I'm trying to decide which server to sign up with. So, which server is the best to sign up with/for?
  6. I think you have such a strong view of your own opinion, that you are being severely influenced to reply to CL58 to prove your point. This, is free will, even though you are influenced by his statements to reply. The influence is persuading you to make a FREE WILL decision. Take CL58 member for example, he posted on his own, free will. By you replying, you put an influence unto him to reply back. It was his free will and sound mind to reply back, he is not being forced, and therefore made his decision. Even since you are correct in one form, that you did put an influence over his decision to reply back, you did not FORCE his mind to say "I am going to reply because he wrote me back", and you did not force his mind or medulla oblongata to send messages to his body to type back to you. You cluelusshusband and cl58 are toying with a fine line. Free will has it's influences, and influences are necessarily a force on one's actions to do something. Like now, I am influenced to reply to try and settle down the discussion. -> Influence. Am i forced to? No. Am i persuaded to reply back? No. I am replying on my own free will, even though influences were indeed playing the game along with us, but nothing close to that of force.
  7. I do believe that we have free will, but of-course that is always to a certain extent. Many people may say that we don't because of the many influences. Well, I have this to say, are those "influences" just influence or are they forcing you to do something? Influences can be something like this example: Your significant other walks up to you, and hints at you that she would like some flowers. When you get to the store, you notice something for the same price, that you feel that you absolutely have to have (whatever it may be). Now here's your problem, you only have $12, and both the flowers and your gotta have item is $10.99. This is where the influence sets in. Your partner influences you so you can make her happy, and you may get some lovin' from them if you do it. INFLUENCE. Your item, your feel is practically staring at you, and calling your name. INFLUENCE. No person, is holding any form of weapon to you, telling you to GET THE FLOWERS. FORCE. All of us have our separate choices that we have to make, and are influenced, no matter how severely influenced that may be. Some of these severe influences may come off that it may be a "need". The only thing on free will, is the equal and opposite reaction. If you make a bad choice, something in return will happen to you, such as being arrested. Everything is an influence, morals, police, friends, neighbors, etc... The only thing, is in our mind, what do we make them out to be?
  8. Marketing and advertising are growing advancing every day that technology does. When there's a new coding language, someone out there is trying to figure out how to put some ad on there for some ungodly thing made in china instead of the good ole USA. Computer companies the like are trying to get more information about their users sot hey can create better computers for a more select crowd, instead of throwing out a big ole black box like they did in the old days. An example of this is the simple design of the laptop. When i walk into walmart there are many designs and about 2 categories of laptops (That i would personally place them in). There's simple computing laptops, and then there's the more sophisticated gaming or powerhouse laptops for the gamer/developer/etc... But if you look at the design, some are meant for the women in the country, (maybe some men), that have flowers on them, and are extremely colorful. On the other hand, there are other laptops that have red and black and look "mean". Advertising is now getting to new lengths as well. From the upgrade of billboards to the boards that change every so often, and even upgraded to water-proof tv's (basically). When i bought my Iphone, i never thought i would have to look and see stupid adds on apps that i use everyday. Well, guess who was wrong? Depending on the app, the add is made (and will change every so often) to fit the type of crowd that downloaded or bought that app. I think some of this could lead us all into a bad place. Large companies are trying to get more information on their consumers to make newer products. After thinking about this, then think "How are they gonna get all this data?". Well, with the World Wide Web growing bigger every day, you never know who is watching all of you moves throughout it. These companies could be sending out some kind of virus, spyware, etc... to collect data on their consumer. If you think about it, how can you stop them? Viruses are a regular thing, and if someone got one, who's gonna delve into the fragile code and say "WHO MADE THIS?!". They'll just get rid of it and move on, especially the common and older crowd using computers. Sorry for the rant! Take care.
  9. Hello customer service, I have been trying to sign up with heliohost all night, only to get numerous e-mails saying that an error has occurred and to try signing up again... This has happened about 3-4 times now. I tried signing up again and it says im in the queue now, but just awaiting an e-mail saying that the error has occurred once more..
  10. I side with Krydos on this one. He makes a very valid point about the priorities of a private company overseeing the nuclear power compared to the government. I think that plays into the fact that they want a government needs a vast majority of people on its side, since a company can always be restarted, and a government takes years to build up. On the other hand, nuclear energy makes me very weary, especially the reactors and facilities, not to mention what can happen when something goes wrong. I don't claim to know a lot of knowledge about nuclear energy, nor will i say i do, but i do know that if something goes wrong in the United States, we can be in some deep poo. Doing a quick google, Fema state that within 10 miles of the nuclear plant, people can be exposed to direct uranium exposure, and can contaminate food, water and other goods up to 50 miles radius. This worries me, although it may be clean burning, I'm one that always worries about the "what if?". It makes me nervous, but if everything were to be in place, even in an event that all incidents happen at the same time as Krydos said happened in Japan, i would feel much better, knowing that EVERY aspect of a failure has been thought of, and something is in place to take care of it. jneves4pt also makes a wonderful point that i would love to see happen. If these reactors could be placed in old blasting areas or something of the sort that's out of ALL contamination zones if something were to happen, i'm sure that would put a lot of people's mind to ease.
