#184298 [Solved] Donation

Posted by wolstech on Yesterday, 04:53 AM

Krydos is the only one who can set that second VPS up for you. He hasn't been on recently. When he sees this he'll set it up.

I moved the Johnny account you have to Tommy since there was a $1 donation (this is typically why $1 donations are made). Do you want this account moved back to Johnny?

You're on Tommy now. Thank you for the donation :)

#184148 Python script in cgi-bin is not returning anything!

Yep, line endings will cause all sorts of weird issues with Python. You need to make sure they're unix style :)

#184147 domain change

Posted by wolstech on 22 February 2021 - 12:23 PM

It has to be completely rewritten to fix it since the current script uses an API that hasn't been supported by WHM in years. It'll happen eventually. As of now, it still works as long as the new domain is not a .heliohost.us domain (so you can change it to your own domain just fine, you just can't assign yourself one of our subdomains at the moment).

Now...I can't change his domain because I can't find his account...

#184146 [Solved] 403 Forbidden Error

Posted by wolstech on 22 February 2021 - 12:18 PM

Your .htaccess files are causing this. I renamed them to htaccess.old and its working.

Specifically, you disabled directory listings in the .htaccess file, but didn't provide an index.php for those domains. If there's no index and you disable directory listings, you get a forbidden error.

My guess is /tmp was full. It's only got 200MB free at the moment.

#183937 suitability?

Posted by wolstech on 14 February 2021 - 04:53 PM

We have users with fully functional shopping sites running here, so you’re fine.

The most important things to keep in mind are your server load (code that’s too heavy can get you suspended, you can watch your load averages in cPanel), and the number of emails you send (limit 50/day, sending more can get you suspended).

Stay away from wordpress. That pile of junk almost always gets users suspended for load.

Also make sure you keep everything updated if you use off the shelf software, hacked sites often end up being used for phishing, which will earn an account a permanent ban.

#183842 [Solved] Why couldn't I access whm when I enter my password?

Posted by wolstech on 11 February 2021 - 09:59 PM

It's actually a little more than that (the actual reason for this is the link must land on a page that does not end in .html), but its easiest to just cut everything after the port number off because it'll guarantee it goes to a page that counts.

#183840 [Solved] Why couldn't I access whm when I enter my password?

WHM is for admins only.

Logging into cpanel is not counted against the 30 day login period and should be avoided unless heliohost is blocked by your isp.

This is not correct. You can use https://johnny.heliohost.org:2083/ (note the 3, not 7) to log into cPanel, but you need to make sure there's nothing after the slash...if there's something after the / , it won't count for the 30 days.

#183636 Softaculous Always Giving Error

Posted by wolstech on 08 February 2021 - 01:09 PM

That's probably a good thing actually...

Wordpress almost always gets users suspended for load due to how badly its written, and is also the leading cause of hacked accounts and accidental bans. Just about any other program is better.

#183064 [Solved] Postgresql database error

Posted by wolstech on 19 January 2021 - 07:02 PM

We don't allow remote access by default. Krydos has to specifically enable it if you want it. Since the username and database name are in the error, I'll escalate this to be set up.

#183049 Site not working.

Posted by wolstech on 19 January 2021 - 02:54 AM

It's because you're forcing SSL on a domain that does not have a certificate installed. Remove and reinstall your certs and wait a few hours and it will work.
